Ozzy Osbourne’s final wish revealed after rock star confessed how he wanted to spend the last few months of his life

He was known for his wild antics as one of the most prolific rock stars in the world. 

However just months prior to his death Ozzy Osbourne revealed how he was ready to leave that part of his life behind for good as he confessed his final wish was to spend the rest of his life surrounded by his family. 

Speaking candidly in an interview with The Guardian in May, the Black Sabbath frontman admitted he was done with his on stage persona and wanted to put his grandkids first. 

He explained: ‘It’s time for me to spend some time with my grandkids, I don’t want to die in a hotel room somewhere. I want to spend the rest of my life with my family.’ 

And it seems Ozzy’s wish was fulfilled after it was announced he passed away ‘surrounded by love’, with his children Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis and wife Sharon on Tuesday. 

The star performed his final gig just over two weeks ago, but it seems in latter years Ozzy had fully retired from his rockstar lifestyle in favour of being a family man. 

Admitting he was done with touring he explained: ‘I’d love to say “never say never”, but after the last six years or so … it is time. I lived on the road for 50-odd years, and I’ve kind of got used to not picking up my bags and getting on the bus again.

‘I don’t smoke dope or do any of the rock star lifestyle any more. I’m kind of like a homebody. I never go out. I never hang out in bars – I don’t drink.’

Ozzy leaves behind grandchildren Sidney, the son of Kelly and Sid Wilson, and Pearl Clementine, Andy Rose, Minnie Theodora, and Maple Artemis, the daughters of Jack and his ex-wife Lisa Stelly, and his current wife Aree Gearhart respectively. 

He is also grandfather to his eldest daughter Jessica’s children Isabelle, Kitty, and Harry, and his eldest son Louis’ children Elijah and Maia. 

On Thursday Lisa paid tribute to the late rocker, whom she knew as ‘papa,’ in a sweet set of photos shared to Instagram. 

Lisa looked back on the monumental presence he had in her family’s life with adorable snaps of him beaming with delight as his grandkids.

‘The world got Ozzy. We got Papa,’ she wrote, calling him ‘One of one’ and ‘Larger than life.’

‘It hurts to say goodbye, but what a gift it was to have him,’ she added. ‘We will never stop missing you.’ 

Ozzy was best known for his over-the-top displays on stage, both with Black Sabbath and in his solo act, but he looked blissfully relaxed in the behind-the-scenes photos.

He showed off a soft smile while holding Pearl, who grinned ear-to-ear for the camera and gripped a flower in her hand.

The rocker reverted to his trickster persona in a fun snap with one of his younger granddaughters. He showed off a playfully fierce open-mouthed look while giving the little girl a ride on his shoulders.

He was the picture of domestic bliss in a group photo as he laid back and wrapped his arm around his two oldest granddaughters. 

Ozzy displayed a hilariously side grin in one photo featuring his former daughter-in-law, who appeared to be holding her youngest daughter. 

The heavy metal icon proved to be a good sport in another photo in which he let one of his baby granddaughters stick her fingers in his mouth.

In an older snap, he cooed at one of his grandkids while resting on a bed as she looked ready to plant a kiss on his face.

It was Ozzy’s eldest daughter Jessica, who he shared with his first wife Thelma Riley, who made him a grandfather for the first time. 

Jessica has been noticeably silent since her father’s death, and she’s remained largely out of the spotlight.

However despite never appearing in The Osbournes’ TV show, she was mentioned in the episode ‘Smells Like Teen Spirits,’ when Ozzy learned that she had welcomed a daughter.

In a clip from the episode, which aired in 2002, Ozzy was told that his daughter’s husband Ben would be calling him when ‘the baby was born.’

An off-camera producer asked Ozzy if that was ‘his daughter,’ and the rocker nodded, before insisting he thought the baby was going to be a boy.

The episode then cut to the next scene, where Ozzy revealed that his first grandchild was a girl named Isabelle.

After one of his daughter Kelly’s pals quipped that he was a ‘little grandfather,’ he hit back: ‘Don’t f*****g say those words.’
