A revolution is under way on the High Street. For far too long, plus-size clothing has been treated as an afterthought – which is odd, considering that ‘plus size’ is defined as anything above a UK 16, the average size in Britain.

But finally, the tables have turned. The once limited options and uninspiring designs have been replaced with a plus-size offering that’s so good, brands are now making their 16+ styles available down to a size 6 or 8. Yes, a growing number of our favourite fashion brands have extended their size ranges and are finally designing with all women in mind.

Here are five labels with inclusive sizing that I return to again and again – and recommend whether you’re a size 6 or size 26…

PRICE RANGE: £48 – £478 SIZE RANGE: 4 – 28

It’s not an easy thing to achieve, but I’m yet to find a body shape that doesn’t suit a Reformation dress.

The celebrity-approved brand (fans include Sienna Miller, Taylor Swift, Florence Pugh, J-Lo and Adele) launched extended sizing as part of its permanent collection in 2019, and its plus-size range has continued to expand.

Their line now goes up to a UK 28 and includes dresses alongside elegantly-tailored trousers, a multitude of skirt shapes, and some seriously chic tops.

The Los Angeles-based brand doesn’t segregate curvy customers into a separate category – it’s the same product range, same cut, same fabrics, same styling. The fit is thoughtful and flattering on all body shapes.

PRICE RANGE: £135 – £595 (excluding bridal) SIZE RANGE 6 – 26

Rixo is one of my favourite places to go for an occasion dress – they’ve nailed that sweet spot between ‘not special enough’ and ‘so special it’s impossible to wear’. They’ve also been one of the few retailers to prioritise size inclusivity. When the brand showed at London Fashion Week, it was the only one with clothing in sizes up to 24. Just when we thought we couldn’t love them more, they teamed up with plus-size fashion editor and influencer Billie Bhatia.

Her collection, in stores now, goes up to a UK 26. Think bold printed kaftans, delicate cotton mini dresses – and a black silk slip dress that’s an absolute must-have. This isn’t just a size add-on, it’s a thoughtfully designed collection that ticks all the right boxes. The fact that sizes 10 and 12 have sold out is proof that great design transcends body shape.

PRICE RANGE: £39 – £170 SIZE RANGE: 4 – 24

This London-based label, launched in 2020, focuses on sustainably produced, trend-conscious pieces using deadstock fabrics, recycled fibres and low-impact dyes.

Think satin slip dresses, crochet co-ords, and exciting denim – with a conscience. OMNES (which is a Latin word meaning ‘for all’) lives up to its name.

The brand is expanding its offerings to better reflect its inclusive ethos.

Swimwear now runs from XS to XXL, and the main range fits up to a UK 24.

In a landscape where sustainability and size inclusivity rarely coexist, OMNES is one to watch.

PRICE RANGE: £99 – £169 SIZE RANGE: 6 – 28

If eye-catching prints are your thing, Never Fully Dressed is a must.

Known for their bold, clashing colours and unapologetically fun designs, NFD offers extended sizes – from 6 to 28 – across most of their pieces.

Their dresses are flattering, well-cut, and an absolute joy to wear.

Founder Lucy Aylen began customising clothes in her parents’ attic; now she runs an internationally loved brand that prioritises inclusivity.

With the tagline ‘feelgood dressing,’ it does exactly that.
