I’ve been living a double life with another man and my devoted husband has no idea – what should I do?

Zoe is married to a ‘devoted’ man, yet she feels they have become ‘housemates’ merely playing the role of husband and wife.

Sharing her story with Australian podcast everybody has a secret hosts Ruby Hall, Annabelle Lee and Charlotte White, the ‘unhappy’ wife said she began to ‘crave validation’ after feeling ‘invisible’ in her marriage so she created a new Instagram account under the fake name ‘Zoe’.

‘I created a fake identity, an alter ego per se… With this account, I created a whole new and totally fake persona,’ Zoe explained.

‘Everything about Zoe is different to me with one exception – I used photos of myself looking 10 out of 10 to build out the profile.

‘Zoe is single, younger and very confident and cheeky… Zoe has a life I’ve always fantasised about and honestly it didn’t feel weird at all until I connected with Pete.’

Things between the strangers started with a few casual flirtatious messages – but their conversation escalated quickly.

‘We began talking all day, everyday. We opened up about our childhood traumas and fears and the type of music that makes us cry,’ Zoe explained.

‘It actually got so intense between us one night, I ended up whispering voice notes to him with my face buried in my pillow. My husband Sean was fast asleep next to me.’

When the pair arranged to meet up, Zoe would tell her husband she was going away on work trips or girls’ weekend.’

‘(But) in reality, I was booking flights, shaving my legs in public bathrooms and wearing lingerie under fake names in hotel rooms across state,’ she said.

‘I was living out my double life with Pete.’

Eventually, Zoe said she was secretly ‘playing’ both men.  

‘Pete had no idea I was married and my husband had no idea I was off gallivanting with some guy I met through my fake Instagram account,’ she explained.

‘Trust me, I do feel guilty.’

She’s been feeling terrible about the affair. 

‘My husband is so trusting that he doesn’t think twice when my phone buzzes and telling me how proud he is on the drive to the airport ahead of my fake work trips,’ she said. 

‘Meanwhile, I’m responding to Pete off Zoe’s account. “I can’t wait to feel you again”.’

Zoe said she finally came clean to Pete that Zoe was ‘fake’.  

‘I told him about my marriage and that I had a devoted husband waiting for me at home,’ she revealed. 

‘I expected him to lose his s*** but all he wanted to do was work out what a future could look like for us. 

‘I know I’m a terrible wife but I mean it when I say this, I never expected to take it this far and fall for Pete. I can’t help that he feels like my twin flame in a parallel life. The one I was supposed to end up with if I hadn’t met my husband first.’

The wife said she only created the account because she was getting bored, considering her marriage had become a ‘routine’.

‘Now I play both roles so well it terrifies me but my life is so exciting now,’ she said.

‘I feel alive again.’

But she’s been struggling with not being able to see Pete more often as she’d like.

‘To say this hasn’t affected me emotionally would be a lie. I often cry in the shower at night because I miss a man I don’t even technically have a right to miss,’ she said. 

She’s aware people will judge her and call her a ‘liar’ or a ‘manipulative’ person.

‘I won’t argue with that,’ Zoe said. 

‘But why does no one talk about how you can love two people at the same time? I am so lost and I don’t know what I’m going to do next. 

‘Whatever happens, someone will get hurt – and it might be me.’

The video has been viewed more than 49,000 times – with many suggesting Zoe should file for divorce if she’s unhappy with her marriage.

‘As soon as she felt the need to make a fake account that was when she needed to file for divorce,’ one said. 

‘I’m sorry but if you truly love your husband, you wouldn’t love the second (man). Being cheated on is horrendous as I was four years ago in my marriage. It’s maybe exciting for her but it’s soul destroying for the other person when they find out,’ another shared. 

‘If she is wanting to be with them both she should have a conversation with her husband and see how that goes,’ one suggested.

‘So wrong on all levels,’ another added.
