The 38-year-old, who was in town to cover Sunday’s NFL game between the Colts and the Las Vegas Raiders as a commentator for Fox Sports, is now recovering at a local hospital in ‘stable’ condition, the network has announced.
‘Mark Sanchez was injured in Indianapolis on Saturday and is currently recovering in the hospital in stable condition,’ Fox Sports said in a statement. ‘We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support.
‘Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, and we ask that everyone please respect his and his family’s privacy during this time.’
Daily Mail has also approached the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department for more information.

Sanchez, who is married to actress Perry Mattfield, is now recovering in a stable condition

The former New York Jets star was set to work as a commentator for Fox Sports on Sunday
According to local news station WTHR, officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 300 block of West Washington Street, near North Capitol Avenue and West Ohio Street.
When they arrived at the scene police reportedly found one victim with stab wounds and another with injuries which appeared to show signs of a physical altercation. A suspect was also detained.
The incident is said to be an isolated one following a verbal argument between two people.
Sanchez, who is married to American actress Perry Mattfeld, played 10 seasons in the NFL with the New York Jets, who selected him with the fifth overall pick in the 2009 draft, Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys and the formerly-named Washington Redskins.
He also spent time with the Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears despite failing to make an NFL appearance for either team.
Before moving up to the big leagues, Sanchez led one of the best teams in college football at USC.
The ex-football star is also a big name away from the sport, given he was romantically linked to the likes of Eva Longaria, Kate Upton and Jamie-Lynn Sigler in years gone by.
He is now married to Hollywood star Mattfeld after tying the knot in Oaxaca, Mexico back in May 2023.
The couple have two children together after Perry gave birth to twins in March. Sanchez also has an eight-year-old son, Daniel, from one of his previous relationships.
