Oscar Piastri starts third behind George Russell, Max Verstappen; F1 results; Formula 1; schedule; Singapore; tickets; map; track; Ferrari; McLaren; Lewis Hamilton; Marina Bay; race results
If you’re new to F1, or new, at least, to the Singapore Grand Prix, it’s important to note just how vital track position is around the tight and technical Marina Bay track.
That means George Russell (Mercedes) and four-time reigning world champion Max Verstappen (Red Bull) have an even bigger advantage straight off the bat in Singapore than they would in most other races… except Monaco, but the less said about that the better.
There are a couple of changes this year though – there’s an extra straight and a fourth DRS zone in play, ideally making for more overtaking. A one-stop pit strategy is looking likely tonight, but that can change in a heartbeat if there are incidents in the opening stages.
At McLaren, look for Oscar Piastri to avoid taken unnecessary risks early. He’ll look to capitalise on the mistakes of those around him, and pounce if the opportunity presents itself, but he won’t force things. There’s too much on the line for the title contender.
As for the constructors’ title, well that one is almost certainly sewn up already, and just the 13 points combined from Piastri and Lando Norris tonight will get the job done for McLaren.
