Trump declares victory in 25-year ‘war’ as markets erupt in frenzied disbelief

Donald Trump can now add another war he’s ended to his long list of peace deals.

The video game retailer GameStop announced this weekend that the 25-year ‘console wars’ has officially ended after Microsoft said it would release the Xbox game ‘Halo’ on the rival PlayStation 5.

The White House took advantage of the latest gaming culture development on Monday by posting an AI-generated photo of Trump saluting the American flag outside the White House while wearing Halo protagonist Master Chief’s armor.

‘NUMBER 9: President Trump presides over the end of the 20-year Console Wars,’ the White House Rapid Response account wrote on X.

GameStop quickly joined the White House in promoting this pro-Trump narrative by releasing more AI-generated images of the president shaking Master Chief’s hand.

The company also sent out a photo Vice President JD Vance rendered into the Halo universe. The White House and GameStop reposted each other’s satirical AI memes.

Video game players for over two decades could only play the popular Halo franchise on the Microsoft-owned Xbox consoles. Now a new era of cooperation between Sony and Microsoft is allowing cross-platform usage.

As a result, GameStop saw their stock skyrocket as result of the new peace with their share price rising by 7.4 percent to $25.03 in pre-market trading. The retailer’s stock has been volatile as their price is down over 25 percent since the start of the year.

Trump, over the last few months, has publicly bragged about ending multiple foreign military conflicts and wars since starting his second term.

The president on Sunday claimed to have successfully brokered a peace deal between Thailand and Cambodia during his tour of Asia.

‘This is one of eight wars that my administration has ended,’ Trump said at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

‘We’re averaging one a month, there’s only one left,’ he added in an apparent reference to the Ukraine-Russia war.

The commander-in-chief is riding high after he successfully negotiated a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, ending the bloody two-year war in Gaza.

The news of Microsoft’s decision to work with its competitor regarding Halo has proven to be good public relations for the Trump administration.

‘Trump ended the console wars and his social teams have been dropping endless Halo memes on the libs,’ Wrote popular X user ‘Clandestine.’

‘What a time to be alive.’

Microsoft unveiled that it’s next Halo franchise game will be available on the PlayStation 5 under the title ‘Halo: Campaign Evolved.’ The game is set to be released in 2026.

Moreover, future Xbox Halo titles will be available to video game players on the PlayStation console.

The news comes as Microsoft struggles to compete against its Sony competitor, as well as Nintendo’s Switch 2, in console sales.
