Announcing the Cairo Charter of Ethics in Organ Transplantation at a conference "Donate life…Egypt 2025"

Cairo witnessed the announcement of the Cairo Charter of Ethics in Organ Transplantation, during the activities of the second conference, “Donate Life…Egypt,” which is considered one of the largest scientific and humanitarian events in the field of organ transplantation in the region, and which is held during the period from 12 to 15 November 2025, with the participation of representatives from more than 30 countries around the world, and is held under the patronage of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, and Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health. And the population.

 

The Charter is considered one of the most prominent achievements of the conference, as it represents a document of an international nature, aiming to establish a unified ethical and humanitarian framework for organizing organ transplantation and donation, ensuring justice, transparency and respect for human dignity at all stages of donation and transplantation, protecting donors from any exploitation, and achieving equality in access to treatment.

 

The Charter combines the visions of doctors, surgeons and philosophers. And experts in law and ethics from major international institutions, in cooperation with Egyptian leaders in this field, in a way that strengthens Egypt’s position on the map of organ transplantation globally.

 

Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabbagh, President of the Conference, explained that the last version of the Istanbul Declaration regulating the ethics of organ transplantation was in 2018, and since then, with global developments, it is necessary to discuss the latest developments in the ethics of organ transplantation and review the latest technological methods.

 

He pointed out that the presence of representatives of international organizations from more than 30 countries aims to establish the Cairo Charter complementary to the Istanbul Declaration, stressing that the conference discusses ways of international and regional cooperation in the field of organ transplantation, in addition to reviewing the latest innovations in the field, such as the use of artificial intelligence in agriculture, and many matters in the field  And modern methods of organ preservation.

He added that the conference is a prominent global event that brings together heads of professional associations, ethics experts, and representatives of major medical institutions from more than 30 countries, which reflects the importance of the Egyptian role in developing the organ transplantation system, and adopting ethical and humanitarian principles in this vital field.

He pointed out that the conference is a prominent international platform for enhancing knowledge exchange and global experiences in the field of organ transplantation, as it brings together pioneers of medicine and ethics and specialists from more than 30 countries. State. 

He pointed out that the announcement of the "Cairo Charter on the Ethics of Organ Transplantation" It comes as a pioneering step towards establishing a unified ethical framework for international cooperation that guarantees justice, transparency, and protection of the rights of donors and recipients, confirms Egypt’s regional and international leadership in this vital humanitarian field, and reflects the state’s commitment to building an advanced national system for medicine and health sciences in accordance with the highest international standards. 

Al-Sabbagh stressed that there is joint cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Population, in raising awareness of the importance of adhering to the ethics of organ transplantation, in order to achieve the highest levels of efficiency and safety in this field. Bio.
