Kamel Al-Wazir witnesses the signing of the contract for management and operation of the high-speed electric train
Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, witnessed the contract for the management and operation of the high-speed electric train network " Sokhna – Matrouh Between the National Authority for Tunnels and the “Deutsche Bahn National Operations” consortium. The contract was signed by Dr. Tariq Gowaili, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Tunnels Authority, Niko Warbanov, CEO of Deutsche Bahn International Operations, and Engineer Ahmed Al-Suwaidi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Elsewedy Electric.
The minister said that this signing comes within the framework of the Ministry of Transport’s implementation of a comprehensive plan for cooperation with major International companies in the field of management and operation to benefit from the expertise of those international companies in the field of management and operation, especially German Railways, as it is one of the leading companies in the world in this field and operates all German railway lines, and also operates a large number of railway lines in a number of countries in the world.
He added that operating the network with its three lines through one operator will contribute to reducing the problems of interference between more than one operator, through a new management and operating model based on revenue sharing, and it was also agreed to The percentage of Egyptian workers should not be less than 95 percent of the total number of employees in the company to transfer expertise to all Egyptian workers.
The Minister also indicated that rehabilitation and training work will be carried out for Egyptian engineers and technicians, enabling them to carry out the work of managing and operating the rapid electric train system in the future, indicating that this is one of the most important factors in the partnership system between the two sides, in addition to cooperation in training a number of Egyptian train conductors in Germany to drive rapid electric trains annually.
