Justin Timberlake Is Suing To Stop His 2024 ‘Ruin The Tour’ DWI Arrest VIral Video Going Public

Justin Timberlake is back in court, and this time it’s about body camera footage from his 2024 drunk driving arrest that he really, really doesn’t want anyone to see.
In new court documents filed in Suffolk County Supreme Court, Timberlake’s legal team argues that releasing the video would be “an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy”. They say making it public would cause “severe and irreparable harm” to his personal and professional reputation and expose him to “public ridicule and harassment”, while serving “no legitimate public interest”.
The footage comes from his June 2024 arrest in Sag Harbor, where police pulled him over just after midnight and later accused him of driving through a stop sign and failing to stay in his lane. During that now‑infamous interaction, he reportedly told the officer, “This is going to ruin the tour”, a line that has followed him ever since despite the video itself never being officially released. He refused a breathalyser at the time, which automatically triggered a licence suspension under New York law.
A few months later, in September 2024, Timberlake accepted a plea deal and pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of driving while impaired. The deal came with a fine, court surcharge, 25 hours of community service and a requirement to record a public safety message about the dangers of drunk driving. It put a legal full stop on the case, but clearly not on the public interest, or his desire to keep the raw arrest footage under wraps.
All of this is landing on top of a long, very public reconsideration of Timberlake’s past. Britney Spears’ 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me, detailed their relationship, including her claim that she had an abortion after he said they weren’t ready to be parents, and that he made her look like a “harlot who’d broken the heart of America’s golden boy” when they split.
In 2021, he apologised to Spears, saying he was “deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions contributed to the problem”.
In 2025, Timberlake also revealed a Lyme disease diagnosis after pushing through unexplained illness and fatigue on his two‑year Forget Tomorrow World Tour. Now he’s trying to make sure that one bad night on the road doesn’t become permanent viral content and ruin more than the tour.
