Abbie Chatfield Shares Emotional Tribute To Ex-Partner Konrad Bien-Stephen: ‘Heartbroken’
Abbie Chatfield has paid tribute after the heartbreaking news of Konrad Bien-Stephen‘s death, remembering her former boyfriend as a “very caring man who deserved to live a very long life”.
Abbie — who dated the fellow Bachelor star for around 10 months from 2021 to 2022 — was among those to react to the tragic news after it was revealed today that he passed away at the age of 35.
“I have seen the news of Konrad’s death, and I have known the news for a few days now. Thank you to the people reaching out to me to let me know or to send their support,” Abbie wrote on her Instagram Stories.
“Obviously this is an incredibly difficult and strange time for me, and I am devastated for Konrad, his friends and his family. And I am heartbroken too,” she added.
Abbie said that although she and Konrad “haven’t spoken for years”, news of his death “is still incredibly difficult”.
“He has many many people who love him and who he loves too. I am heartbroken for everyone in his life as I know how much he meant to them. And I’m sure to a lot of you, who never even met him,” Abbie said.
The reality star, who was romantically linked to Konrad at around the time of his appearance as a contestant on Brooke Blurton’s season of The Bachelorette, went on to recall how “sweet” and “caring” he was.
“Konrad was such a kind and sweet person to everyone. A very caring man who deserved to live a very very long life. I am so heartbroken that he doesn’t get to do that. And that his loved ones don’t get to experience that full, long life with him,” Abbie said.
She urged her followers to “share love and kindness” and “check in on your mates, do an act of kindness [or] talk to a friend”.
Abbie and Konrad — who was a carpenter before his reality TV career — reportedly parted ways in mid-2022, with Abbie saying the break up was “not anything dramatic”.
Konrad was more recently in a relationship with singer Thelma Plum.
News of Konrad’s death was revealed by his management. “We ask that you respect the privacy of their family during this incredibly difficult time. No further information will be shared at this stage,” they said. “Our thoughts are with all who loved him.”
It’s understood he passed away on Monday night in Melbourne.
Abbie joins the of tributes that have already flowed from Konrad’s followers and famous co-stars, including Cyrell Paule, Brittany Hockley and Marley Biyendolo.
