Women are stunned by this easy ‘hack’ that makes ANY pair of jeans fit like a glove: ‘This is genius’

A young mum has sparked a wave of excitement online after sharing a simple yet genius trick to make ill-fitting jeans hug your body in all the right places without spending a cent at the tailor.
Marissa Richards, who regularly posts fashion, beauty and parenting advice online, revealed the clever ‘hack’ in a recent video that’s quickly gaining traction among women tired of gaping waistbands and awkward fits.
In the clip, Marissa explained that she stumbled across the idea on TikTok herself before putting it to the test – and the results speak for themselves.
The method is surprisingly simple and uses items most people already have at home in the form of a pair of scissors and a shoelace.
One necessary tool, though, was a large threading needle which Marissa said she purchased from budget retailer Temu.
Walking viewers through the process, Marissa demonstrated how to create a discreet adjustment from the inside of the waistband.
‘You snip the inside of your jeans… just on the inner seam,’ she said, carefully cutting a small hole along the seam line.
She then used the shoelace as a makeshift threading tool, feeding it through the inside of the waistband.

‘Then you’re going to take this and thread it through all the way through the seam,’ she explained, noting that some jeans with large back tags can make the process slightly trickier.
Once threaded through, the shoelace effectively acts as a hidden drawstring, allowing the wearer to cinch the waistband tighter for a more tailored fit.
To demonstrate the transformation, Marissa slipped into the pair of low-rise jeans that previously sat loosely on her hips.
‘They are too big on me… but I have the shoelace in here,’ she said, before revealing how the laces pull the waistband in for a snug, flattering fit.
‘And now I can wear them.’
The beauty of the trick lies in its invisibility – from the outside, the jeans appear perfectly fitted, with no visible alterations.
The hack taps into a growing appetite for practical, budget-friendly fashion fixes, particularly as shoppers look to make the most of pieces they already own rather than constantly buying new.
It also offers a clever solution for one of women’s most common denim frustrations finding a pair that fits both the hips and waist without compromise.

While some viewers praised the idea as ‘genius’ and ‘a total game changer’, others noted it could be especially useful for those in between sizes or dealing with inconsistent sizing across brands.
‘Super helpful!’ one wrote.
‘You can use a safety pin clipped into the shoelace to thread through if you don’t have that tool,’ they added.

Should we embrace DIY fixes for our clothes or demand better sizing from fashion brands?
‘Could even use elastic and sew the ends in place,’ a second recommended.
‘Great idea,’ one enthused.
‘Not me waiting ’til the end to see if this miracle will help me fit my jeans that are too small,’ another joked.
With the cost-of-living continuing to bite, it’s no surprise simple DIY tricks like this are resonating with so many.
