Ahead of her 52nd birthday, Victoria Beckham’s son Cruz confirmed she had embraced a less-is-more approach to body art. 

Answering a fan question on Instagram, the 21-year-old model revealed Victoria had gotten all six of her tattoos removed – including husband David Beckham’s initials and a Hebrew quote on her back. 

While Posh Spice may have opted for laser removal after confessing she was ‘sick’ of some of them, other celebrities remain firmly attached to their ink.  

Some are deeply personal designs that honour their loved ones, whereas others are whimsical designs with no deeper significance. 

From poignant odes to friendship to cartoon-themed ink, these are some of the most recognisable A-list tattoos of recent times.

But can YOU identify who they belong to without Googling it? 

The royal ‘circle’ 

She is among a handful of royals who have gotten inked, with members of The Firm typically shying away from any body art. 

The first time this royal debuted her tattoo – believed to be the only one she has – was during the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. 

The circle design is tucked away in a discreet location – behind her ear – and is easily covered up.  

While she has never spoken about its meaning, the tiny ‘orb’ design is believed to be a tribute to Queen Elizabeth and the power of the monarchy. 

A ‘spiritual’ 11:11 tattoo 

This actress found fame for her role in arguably the most popular sitcom ever made, before becoming one of the most recognisable A-listers of her generation. 

She has 11:11 tattooed on her left wrist, which has since been revealed to be a tribute to a longtime friend who also landed a cameo on the beloved ’90s sitcom. 

This isn’t her first tattoo; in 2011, she was photographed with the name ‘Norman’ inked on her foot as she immortalised her beloved corgi terrier after his death that year. 

‘M’ for matching 

This is another one of Hollywood’s most famous tattoos, as its bearer recently walked the red carpet at the premiere for one of 2026’s most eagerly awaited movie releases. 

This Oscar winner earned international recognition after she made her acting debut at 18 in a film starring Julie Andrews and Mandy Moore. 

One of Tinseltown’s most famous leading ladies, she debuted an ‘M’ tattoo on her left wrist before later explaining its meaning on a famous chat show. 

She revealed the tattoo symbolises her ‘union’ with her film producer husband, adding: ‘We make each other better.’ 

A Pokemon tribute 

This popstar-turned-actress has made no secret of her love of tattoos, with more than 50 designs on her body. 

While some of them have a deeper significance, this tattoo is a whimsical nod to her love of Pokemon, as she revealed ‘I’ve wanted this for so long’ in 2019. 

It was around this time that the songstress split from her comedian fiance after they got a whopping 11 matching tattoos. 

While she has since altered or covered most of these up, he spent nearly £150,000 on having most of his tattoos removed altogether. 

‘Lover’ girl 

This beauty mogul is also a tattoo enthusiast, with over 20 fine-line designs all over her body. 

One year after she married a popstar – whose recent Coachella performances set social media ablaze – this ‘nepo baby’ marked the occasion by enlisting celebrity favourite Doctor Woo to etch the word ‘lover’ on her neck. 

It can be seen alongside a cross to represent her upbringing as an Evangelical Christian. 

‘Love thy neighbour’  

This legendary British actress has just one tattoo, which she got during a drunken night out in her 20s.

The interlocking V design means ‘love thy neighbour’ with the Essex-born thespian –  who was knighted in 2003 – later admitting she wouldn’t be opposed to adding to her collection. 

The Oscar winner, then 72, told People ‘I’ll get more as I get older’, adding tattoos are ‘addictive’. 

H2 Uh-oh 

Misspelt tattoos are not uncommon, and it appears celebrities aren’t immune to them either. 

This acclaimed American actress joked that her tiny tattoo was ‘watered down rebellion’ after she got the scar-coloured body art as part of a bonding exercise with Liam Hemsworth.

However, the blonde beauty later discovered the tattoo – the chemical sign for water – was incorrect as she quipped ‘I should have Googled it’ while explaining the significance of the ink in 2015.

Princess Eugenie is among a small group of royals who have gotten tattoos, along with Lady Amelia Windsor. 

The younger daughter of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson has a tiny circle inked behind her ear that fans first spotted during the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022.

It has been widely speculated that Eugenie’s tattoo is an ode to her grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, who died months later on September 8, 2022.

According to Cosmopolitan, the small circle may represent the Sovereign’s Orb, one of the most famous crown jewels

The orb, which weighs a staggering 1.3kg, usually sits in the Tower of London as part of the Coronation Regalia and has played a central part in the crowning of monarchs for hundreds of years.

It represents the Christian world, and the join which runs across it depicts the equator.

It is therefore a symbol of the monarch’s power, with the cross reminding the bearer that their power derives from God.

Another interpretation of the princess’s tattoo is that it signifies the circle of life, as OK! magazine reported it is a symbol of ‘completion’.

2. Jennifer Aniston 

Jennifer Aniston revealed the meaning behind her 11:11 tattoo in 2021 when she posted a series of birthday tributes to her best friend Andrea Bendewald on Instagram in March 2021. 

In one of the photos, Jennifer and Andrea showed off their matching ink as the Friends star captioned the post: ‘Happy birthday to my forever sister from another mister @andreabendewald… 37 years and counting. And the best is yet to come.’ 

The Morning Show star told The New York Times in 2019 that Andrea is her ‘oldest friend’ who also starred alongside her on the hit Apple TV+ drama series.

Andrea, who was in the 90s Brooke Shield-starring sitcom Suddenly Susan, also made an appearance in the Friends episode The One With the Cheap Wedding Dress as the bride who tries to snag Monica’s dream gown.

Jennifer first flashed her 11:11 wrist tattoo at The Morning Show’s New York City premiere in 2019. Fans got a closer glimpse at the ink during a conversation with Friends costar Lisa Kudrow for Variety’s Actors on Actors series last year.

At the time, a source told People that the actress is ‘very spiritual’ and believes the numbers are good luck: ‘The number 11 is also special to her because of her birthday and [her dog] Norman.’

The source added that Jennifer ‘still misses’ her beloved Welsh corgi terrier, who died in 2011. Her birthday is February 11.

She initially paid tribute to Norman by getting her first tattoo back in 2011: his name inked on the inside of her foot in cursive script.

3. Anne Hathaway 

Anne Hathaway shares a matching ‘M’ tattoo with her husband, film producer Adam Shulman, the actress revealed in 2023. 

Anne and Adam, who tied the knot in 2012, celebrated their 11th anniversary with a couple’s tattoo that underscored the ‘idea that individually we’re whole but together we’re more’. 

During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, the Devil Wears Prada actress said: ‘We have this thing – it’s actually a tattoo – and the idea is that individually we’re whole but together we’re more,’ she said.

She noted that their relationship works so well because ‘it’s just that thing about [how] I don’t expect him to complete me and he doesn’t expect me to complete him.

‘I’m my own person [and] he’s his own person,’ she continued.

‘And we choose to be together because we believe we make each other better and this union is something we both want to participate in.’

4. Ariana Grande 

Ariana Grande added a Pokémon character to her extensive collection of tattoos in 2019. 

In a post on Instagram, the Wicked star unveiled the intricate design of Eevee, which has rabbit-like ears and a furry ruff, on her arm. 

Tagging her tattoo artist in the snap, she wrote: ‘I’ve wanted this for so long. thank you sm.’

Explaining her motivations behind the tattoo, the brunette beauty admitted to a fan she’d spent 15 hours playing Pokemon’s Let’s Go Eevee on the Nintendo Switch.

She wrote: ‘honestly. yesterday i had a day off and i played pokemon let’s go eevee for fifteen hours. honestly.’ (sic)

It came after Ariana covered up her ‘Pete’ tattoo (for ex fiance Pete Davidson) with a black heart – the same shape the SNL actor opted for when hiding his neck artwork.

Amid their whirlwind romance, the former couple are believed to have gotten at least 11 tattoos between them, either matching or honouring the other.

But since the split, they have been slowly working their way back through the ‘permanent’ tokens, either altering or covering them up.

5. Hailey Bieber 

Hailey Bieber flaunted two new tattoos ahead of her first marriage anniversary with Justin Bieber in 2019. 

The designs were shared by celebrity artist Doctor Woo, who has tattooed everyone from Miley Cyrus and Drake to Zoe Kravitz, on his Instagram page. 

These included a script reading ‘lover’ and a cross, with the latter believed to be a nod to her Evangelical Christian faith. 

6. Helen Mirren 

Helen Mirren confessed she got the interlocking Vs while ‘very drunk’ in Minnesota at a time when ‘only prisoners, sailors and Hell’s Angels got tattooed’ in an interview with the Daily Mail. 

The tattoo, which means ‘love thy neighbour’, was ‘my little act of rebellion’, the award-winning actress said. 

She was travelling with an American Indian theatre group at the time, as Dame Helen recalled: ‘About six of us got them at the same time,’ she added. ‘It’s a kind of mad bonding thing that you do from time to time in your life.

‘It was my little act of rebellion. It was done with a safety pin and was very painful.

‘I’ve never regretted it. But back then, only prisoners, sailors and Hell’s Angels got tattooed. Now it’s gone madly out of control.’

7. Jennifer Lawrence 

 The Silver Linings Playbook star made a tattoo blunder when she got the chemical sign for water incorrectly tattooed on her hand. 

While the 2 in H20 is supposed to be low, Jennifer Lawrence only recognised that her tattoo was scientifically incorrect after it was too late. 

‘I know that the two is high and in H2O the two is supposed to be low,’ she said in 2015, ahead of the release of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2. 

At the time, Jennifer explained that the tattoo was a bonding exercise with her co-star, Liam and said it didn’t have a very deep meaning. 

‘I was like “Well I’m always gonna need to be hydrated, so I guess I should just get H2O on my hand”,’ she said. 

‘It’s the colour of a scar, all natural so it’s literally the most unrebellious tattoo that anybody could ever get.’
