Unfaithful wife’s soul-baring message to husband revealed as he stands trial for her murder

A haunting message allegedly left by a man’s unfaithful wife, before she vanished without a trace, was revealed in court as prosecutors accuse her husband, Larry Millete, of murder.

‘Let me find my peace . . . I cannot find it with you,’ Maya Millete ended the chilling note, which detailed the deterioration of their marriage.

The then 39-year-old mother of three, who had an affair with her co-worker and considered divorcing Larry, has not been seen since pulling her car into the driveway of their family home on January 7, 2021.

Prosecutors in court on Tuesday read the message she allegedly wrote to Larry months earlier, in August 2020, according to Fox5.

‘Dear Larry. You are right, I am not myself anymore. I’ve turned into this bitter, angry person who is careless with her words,’ she allegedly wrote.

‘But that’s what our marriage has turned me into. And I hate it. I hate that you get me so angry all the time. And you speak so righteous while I speak so bitterly.’

The message went on to say how Larry would become angry if she wasn’t within his view, despite trying to make the relationship work.

‘It’s unhealthy. It’s toxic. We need to change. But with the kids in mind, I want to be happy, and happy is not with you. We cannot be doing the same thing, expecting the same results,’ reads the note.

May ‘Maya’ Millete went missing on January 7, 2021, after getting home from work in Chula Vista, California. She has not been seen or heard from ever since

Maya allegedly said she felt gone both mentally and emotionally and claimed that her husband failed to notice until she wanted to leave him.

‘I read this, and I thought maybe you’d consider it: ‘The EGO says once everything falls into place, I’ll find peace. The SPIRIT says: Find peace and everything will fall into place,’ the wife allegedly wrote.

‘Let me find my peace . . . I cannot find it with you. Maya’.

The court also heard testimony regarding the couple’s alleged search history on the fifth day of the trial.

Investigators found searches such as ‘how to mentally torture someone with words,’ ‘psychological torture,’ and ‘how to mentally torture someone,’ said Former Chula Vista Police Department forensic specialist David Garber.

As Garber testified, he also added that officials discovered small blood stains in Larry’s trunk and streaks suggesting that it had been wiped.

However, he noted that the vehicle was not considered a crime scene.

Chula Vista Police Detective Officer Ryan Culver stood for questioning as well, in which he claimed that when officers arrived at the Millete home on the night his wife was reported missing, Larry let them cooperate and allowed them to go through the house.

Culver testified that they did not see any signs of struggle or evidence of foul play.

Detective Lorenzo Ruiz testified as well, telling the court that he searched Maya’s credit card activity and found that there was no record that she used any card after January 7, 2021.

Ruiz testified that he reviewed camera footage but did not find any evidence showing Maya left the home on the same day.

He also added that after searching what he believed to be Maya’s laptop, he found browsing history including, ‘Is manhandling a wife physical abuse?’ ‘physical abuse manifesting years after marriage’.

The searches, several of which were from 2020, also included divorce, separation, and child support calculators.

The trial, which is set to last about three months, will delve into two sides: Larry allegedly taking his wife’s life because he was not content with a divorce, and Maya willingly disappearing.

During opening statements, County Deputy District Attorney Christy Bowles painted a picture of a wife who had been unhappy in her marriage for years, and a husband who was not willing to let her leave him.

The prosecutor told jurors that ‘divorce was not an option’ for Larry, and because of that, he murdered her.

‘Rather than let her leave, he killed her,’ Bowles said, adding that at the end of the trial the jury will see ‘that May Millete is dead and that the defendant killed her.’

Ryan acknowledged that the case is a ‘tragedy,’ but authorities made his client the one to blame without looking at other potential suspects.

According to Ryan, Maya’s lover, whom she had an affair with, and his pregnant wife, had not been probed in the case, according to the outlet.

He applauded Bowles for telling a ‘tragic, emotional [and] provocative’ story in her opening statement, but challenged it by stating that it could only be true if Larry ‘committed the perfect murder.’

While jurors listened to the start of the trial, family members of both Maya and Larry packed inside the courtroom.

Attorneys and reporters not directly involved in the case sat inside another courtroom, where they watched a live video of the proceedings.

Superior Court Judge Enrique Camarena, who is presiding over the case, decided last month that the trial will not be live-streamed or recorded because it could affect the proceedings.

When contacted by the Daily Mail for comment, a spokesperson for Bowles’ office said: ‘We will not be making any comments on this case during its pendency.’
