Farmer Alex Thompson-Welch’s journey to find love officially came to an end in Sunday night’s episode of Farmer Wants A Wife, with the 28-year-old beef and mushroom farmer choosing 30-year-old lawyer Eddy Fry.

Eddy emerged as a frontrunner at the very start of the season when she was picked for the coveted 24-hour date — and even received a gold pendant necklace — so no one was too surprised when Alex confessed he had fallen in love with her.

“I haven’t felt this way about anyone before, and I’ve never felt this way about anyone so fast either,” he gushed.

Eddy herself admitted that she wasn’t at the same stage, although she was falling for Alex, so what’s their relationship status now?

Well, the couple has yet to hard-launch their romance on social media, so we only have a few cues to rely on.

In some positive news, Alex still follows Eddy on Instagram as well as her brother Will, which suggests their relationship lasted long enough for the farmer to meet the family. Alex also liked Eddy’s IG post in November, which would’ve been after filming had wrapped.

However, there have been multiple reports that the pair are no longer together, with an insider telling Woman’s Day that they “didn’t last long” after the cameras stopped rolling.

Meanwhile, sources told New Idea that the couple split at the end of last year and have been trying hard to keep the breakup a secret.

“The plan was always to protect the ending,” one insider told the publication. “Everyone wanted viewers to believe they were still together.” The source added that Alex “genuinely thought this could work” and has taken the breakup “really hard”. Ouch.

Alex previously told PEDESTRIAN.TV that he was “a little apprehensive” about the show’s structure and the idea he could form a strong connection with one person while dating multiple people, but he was “shocked” by how well he could connect and “find something real”.

Unfortunately, without an official statement from the pair, we will have to wait for the Farmer Wants A Wife reunion to air later this month to learn more about what happened after the show.

It’s important to note, however, that the reunion episode was filmed only a few weeks after the series wrapped late last year, so you might be better off turning Instagram notifications on for the inevitable hard launch or breakup announcement to truly reveal their current status.
