Terrifying moment man with two distressed kids allegedly carjacks stranger’s vehicle after wild police pursuit across western Sydney
Horrifying footage captured the moment a man with two distressed children allegedly carjacked a stranger’s car before speeding off.
Police were called to perform a welfare check on a 36-year-old driver in Belmore, south-west Sydney, on Saturday afternoon.
The driver, who had two children in the car, allegedly refused to stop before police gave chase across western Sydney.
‘The pursuit continued into Auburn before it was terminated due to the manner of the man’s driving,’ a NSW Police spokesman said.
The man drove on the wrong side of the M4 Motorway before colliding with an oncoming vehicle.
He allegedly tried to steal a car when a 25-year-old man stepped in.
A fight ensued and the Good Samaritan suffered a stab wound.
A terrified passenger sitting in a nearby car filmed the altercation erupt in the middle of a road as several bystanders attempted to help.

The vehicle came to a brief stop when the driver’s door swung open and the woman spilled out of the car, landing on her back
One of the bystanders managed to separate one of the children from the man as he pleaded with him.
The man was seen holding an item, believed to be a knife, in one hand while holding the hand of the second child.
He eventually snatched his child back from the bystander while waving the knife before slowly stepping backwards.
The man bundled his children into a stranger’s car, with a woman behind the wheel.
He then sat in the passenger seat and the woman began to drive away.
The vehicle came to a brief stop when the driver’s door swung open and the woman spilled out of the car, landing on her back.
Smoke from the back of the car billowed into the air and the vehicle sped away with the man allegedly behind the wheel.
The man headed westbound along the M4 Motorway before stopping on the Cumberland Highway at Wentworthville.

He was arrested by an off-duty police officer and taken to hospital under police guard.
The two children were taken to Westmead Children’s Hospital with minor injuries.
