Danny Pudi Shares Update On The Community Movie
Cool, cool, cool, cool. Danny Pudi has shared an ‘update’ regarding the highly anticipated, highly desired Community: The Movie. Let’s say his wise words have left fans frothing for more news.
Taking to OZ Comic-Con Sydney — which continues this weekend in Brisbane — Pudi, who plays the beloved Abed Nadir in the hilariously heartwarming sitcom, shared some insight into the progress (or lack of) of the movie.
“Do we have any updates about the Community movie? No,” Pudi told PEDESTRIAN.TV.
“We’re all super excited to do it; we all really wanna do it. We so appreciate the love and the passion from the fans. Six seasons and a movie — The Prophecy needs to be complete.
“So we are hopeful. I think we’re all like excited about getting together back at Greendale and Dan Harmon, let’s do it! Let’s do it, let’s get the whole team. Hopefully soon, I’m optimistic.”
In an attempt to gather more tea, we asked Pudi what his ideal plot for the Community would be, especially if he had any creative input into the flick. In response, Pudi said he wasn’t interested in any creative control, and was more so looking forward to reuniting with the cast.
“The joy of Community is I don’t want any of that. I just like to be in the room with everyone,” he continued.
“It’s such an energetic, thoughtful, creative ensemble that just when we’re bouncing off each other, magic happens. It’s our family in many ways — we’re like a family.
“So, I would just like to be… to make sure that we’re all together in a room. That’s really it. And that’s kind of the… the joy of the show is that you put us all together in one room, Dean Pelton comes in with a problem, and we ‘solve’ it.”
News of Community: The Movie first made headlines in 2022 after NBCUniversal’s Peacock ordered a feature film in, with Dan Harmon jumping on board.
Per Deadline, the movie was slated to star Pudi, alongside Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash, Donald Glover, Yvette Nicole Brown and Ken Jeong.
However, Glover shared an update earlier this year, telling Entertainment Tonight, “We’re working on it right now”.
“I know everybody’s been saying that for forever, but I swear to you, I’m not lying about this. I really think that something is gonna happen soon,” he said.
While everyone seems to be keen, it appears it’ll be a while before we get Troy and Abed in ~the mooooovies~.
