Revealed: Why only 100 England fans will be allowed to attend October’s Nations League away clash at Croatia

England have secured 100 tickets for away fans to attend the behind-closed-doors Nations League tie with Croatia in a fortnight’s time.

UEFA had announced that no supporters of either country were permitted for the clash on October 3 after punishing Croatia for crowd disturbances during an away game against France in 2025.

The FA held discussions with Europe’s governing body and have now struck a compromise for a small allocation of travelling fans to watch Thomas Tuchel’s men at HNK Rijeka Stadium, two hours west of Zagreb.

England’s last trip to Croatia in 2018 – a goalless draw – was also behind closed doors in Rijeka. The sight of a small band of 100 fans from the official England Supporters Travel Club this time should act as a spectacle for the Group C fixture and offer something of an advantage for the visitors.

UEFA’s punishment also means that Slaven Bilic’s side will not have away fans following them in Prague for their opening game against Czechia on September 26 but will have a following when they head to Wembley in November.

With a short window between the announcement of tickets and the game, England fans with the highest amount of away ‘caps’ will be given priority of those registering interest in attending.
