A private jet struck a perimeter fence after sliding off the runway during a planned departure at Las Vegas’ primary airport on Sunday, officials said.
The incident occurred around 11 a.m. at Harry Reid International Airport, with no reported injuries, airport spokesperson Monika Bertaki confirmed.
The Dassault Falcon 50 was en route to Toronto’s Pearson International Airport, though officials have not disclosed what triggered the jet to leave the tarmac and clip the boundary fence.
Following the event, two runways were closed for safety inspections, prompting the Federal Aviation Administration to briefly halt planned flights to the facility.
This ground stop caused delays of more than an hour for about 360 flights before the FAA lifted the measure by Sunday evening.
An airport statement read: “At approximately 11 a.m., upon departure, a general aviation aircraft skid off runway 1L at LAS and made contact with the perimeter fence. There are no known injuries at this time. Runways 1R and 1L will be closed for inspection, and travelers may experience some delays. We will provide updates as more information becomes available.”
As of August, the airport had logged over 370,000 operations and more than 34 million passengers so far in 2026.
