‘It doesn’t look good’: Mikel Arteta sparks fears over Bukayo Saka injury after Arsenal winger limped off during 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta admitted he is worried about the injury suffered by winger Bukayo Saka in last night’s thrilling 2-2 draw at Bayern Munich.

Saka went off with a thigh injury just ten minutes into his team’s Champions League game with the German champions at the Allianz Arena.

Arteta said: ‘It doesn’t look good at all but we will have to wait and see.

‘They [the medical staff] are a bit concerned. A player who has to come off with a really sharp pain is never good news.’

Arsenal led through Saka’s replacement Eberechi Eze in the first-half but the brilliant Harry Kane hauled Bayern back into the game and eventually the lead with a first half assist for Alphonso Davies and then a second half penalty of his own.

Declan Rice grabbed an 82nd minute equaliser to send Arsenal home content but Arteta hinted that Kane – a Ballon d’Or contender ahead of next week’s ceremony in London – still sets the standards for others to follow.

‘The pass he made for the first goal, that’s the level,’ said the Arsenal manager.

England captain Kane has now scored 58 Champions League goals and is only one away from matching Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of scoring in eleven consecutive Champions League matches.

Asked by TNT about his England team-mate’s Ballon D’Or chances, Rice said: ‘He is the clear winner. His numbers speak for themselves. The year he has had has been remarkable.

‘When you play with him you realise how good he is and when you play against him you see how much of a pain it is.

‘He is ridiculous, such a good player and I am lucky I can play with him, not so lucky I have to play against him.’
