They said they were approaching their separation with kindness and a ‘shared commitment to our girls’.
The pair described their daughters as their greatest joy and that their children would remain at the ‘centre of everything’ they do.
The announcement marks a significant change for James, who has become a familiar face to Australian sports fans through his prominent role at Nine.
Since moving to the network from Sky News, he has built a career spanning nightly sports bulletins, Wide World of Sports and coverage of major international events.
His recent assignments have included co-hosting Nine’s coverage of the Winter Olympics in Italy, reporting from Melbourne during the Australian Open and travelling to Las Vegas for the NRL’s opening round.
Earlier this year, he was reportedly considered a contender to replace Karl Stefanovic on the Today show, with entertainment insiders pointing to his strong reputation within Nine.
However, his presenting duties have remained focused on the network’s extensive sporting coverage.
