If you’ve ever watched The Devil Wears Prada, you’ll know that florals in spring are categorically not groundbreaking.
But in winter? According to the autumn/winter 2026 runways, blooms are back this season with Dries Van Noten, Erdem, Simone Rocha, Givenchy and Khaite all emblazoning their skirts, jumpers and jackets with romantic botanical prints. Dior went full-on floriferous, showcasing oversized daisy appliqués, while Masha Popova even painted flowers onto leather jackets.
The key is to move away from the more delicate, ditsy prints that Miranda Priestly so despises and opt for moodier colour palettes, heavy fabrics and subtle accessories. Here are six outfit ideas from the high street that prove florals to be a year-round staple.
1. The dress
With the days getting colder, this is no time for strappy, flowy frocks. This Mango devoré dress is subtle enough to avoid looking twee but still nods to the floral theme, while the draped shoulder and high neckline give it a more modern structure. I’d wear this with black mules or pointed flats, a cute clutch and an oversized coat.
2. The skirt
Wrap skirts are having a moment and this Zara gem is a favourite with fashion editors. It has an understated autumnal feel and is perfect for the office-to-cocktail-bar this party season.
3. The jacket
Maximalist embroidered jackets were all over the runways this autumn, and this one from Monsoon is made with luscious velvet with a mandarin collar (which are everywhere right now). A statement jacket like this one doesn’t need a lot more styling: a simple long-sleeved tee and barrel jeans will do.
4. The jeans
Patterned denim always takes an outfit from simple to interesting and this pair from River Island is no exception. You could style with a chunky knit jumper and trainers for a more casual look, but I think I’ll be wearing these with something sparkly during party season.
5. The earrings
If floral prints aren’t your style, a subtle accessory can help your wardrobe blossom. These maximalist earrings will transform any outfit, though in this weather a comfy knit dress and knee-high boots will be my on-repeat combo.
6. The shoes
We often overlook what we put on our feet, but these statement heels are too fabulous not to notice. They come in black and red, though I’ll be embracing my inner vampire and putting on the black pair with an LBD and blood red lippy.
