France’s presidential candidate, leader of the right-wing National Rally party Marine Le Pen, could defeat the incumbent head of state in the second round of elections.

The poll showed that none of the candidates on March 10 will get 50% of the votes needed to win the election in the first round, and therefore the result will be decided in the second round.

According to preliminary data, in the first round, Macron will take first place and can count on 27% of the vote, Marine Le Pen is in second place in the polls with 20.7%, and the veteran leftist Jean-Luc Mélenchon is in third place with 18.1%.

According to the same study, in the second round, Le Pen can count on 50.5%, while Macron – only 49.5%.

Earlier, Marine Le Pen said that the country is ready for the fact that France is ready for its first female president. She noted that 77 years ago, specifically in April 1945, women in France for the first time obtained the right to vote in municipal elections.

The first round of the presidential elections will be held in France on Sunday, April 10, 2022.

The current head of state, Emmanuel Macron, is considered the leader, and Marine Le Pen is his main rival.
