Adam Driver has broken his silence after Lena Dunham claimed in her memoir that he was “verbally aggressive” and “hurled a chair” near her while they co-starred in Girls.
Driver, who played the on-again-off-again love interest of Dunham’s character in the HBO series, addressed the allegations while promoting his new movie Paper Tiger at the Cannes Film Festival, saying: “I don’t have any comment on that”.
“I’m saving it all for my book,” he added when asked about the claims by a reporter from The Guardian. The outlet reported that Driver’s response prompted laughter from those at the press conference.
Driver does not appear to actually be writing a book, though he has been the subject of a few biographies.

It comes a few weeks after Dunham’s memoir Famesick hit bookshelves. In it, the actress recalled her experience working with Driver — whom she described as “short-tempered”, “condescending and physically imposing” throughout their time on the show.
Dunham also claimed that during their first sex scene in Girls, Driver “hurled me this way and that”. Though she made claims about his behaviour, Dunham still admitted that she and Driver “felt like partners” and described the actor as “protective [and] loving”.
The claims were one of multiple bombshells revealed in Famesick, which also addressed Dunham’s ex Jack Antonoff and his involvement with a “teen pop star” widely believed to be Lorde, as well as Dunham’s falling out with Girls showrunner Jenni Konner and the controversy over her previous memoir Not That Kind Of Girl.
Driver, meanwhile, is starring opposite Scarlett Johansson and Miles Teller in Paper Tiger. It’s one of multiple buzzy projects to debut at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, alongside the Jordan Firstman-directed Club Kid and Teenage Sex and Death At Camp Miasma, which stars Gillian Anderson and Hannah Einbinder.
