Adorable dog dies from heat exhaustion after being left chained up in 100F weather despite neighbors’ protests
An adorable goldendoodle named Rocco was reportedly left outside in the brutal Texas heat, prompting dire warnings from concerned neighbors before the dog’s death.
Jaida Grace first shared videos and photos of the pup on the Public Accountability for Animal Welfare (PAWW) Facebook page, calling on her community to hold the dog’s owners accountable.
‘I begged and begged my neighbors to stop leaving their beautiful 2 year old Doodle puppy outside in this extreme Texas heat, chained up for 10-15 hours per day without water and shade,’ Jaida wrote.
‘I called Animal Control, offered to care for the dog and would’ve even taken ownership – but the neighbors declined all assistance and made every excuse for their neglect.’
She alleged that her neighbors in Dallas ignored Rocco’s barks, and the dog later died outside and alone in the sweltering Texas heat.
‘Thankfully he’s in a better place and no longer with these evil people. My heart is still broken,’ Jaida said.
Jaida shared multiple photos and videos of Rocco outside in the heat, including a video that appeared to show the dog lying lifeless in the sun.
After her post went viral, the DeSoto Police Department confirmed in a statement that they were investigating the animal welfare incident.

The department said animal control responded to the home on August 8 and was aware of video footage circulating online.
‘The investigation is ongoing, and no further details are available at this time,’ Captain G Kirkland added.
The community has also launched a petition on Change.org to advocate for charging Rocco’s owners with animal cruelty.
‘As members of this community, it is our collective responsibility to ensure that such cruelty does not continue unpunished and serve as a painful reminder of the dangers our pets face from neglect,’ the petition read.
The petition’s organizers accused Rocco’s owners of violating Texas law by leaving their dog in the sweltering heat, adding that temperatures often exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer.
The community also called on Texas officials to enact stricter enforcement measures by launching awareness campaigns, accessible resources for pet care, and stricter penalties for offenders.
Jaida claimed on Facebook that she repeatedly asked her neighbors to put Rocco inside and said she could help.
She shared a screenshot that appeared to show her messages with Rocco’s owners, in which she notified them that she saw the dog struggling to breathe in the sun while she was walking.
‘My friend’s dog passed away recently from being outside in this heat, so I just wanted to let you know,’ Jaida’s message read.

‘I work from home so if he ever needs water I can take some over throughout the day just let me know.’
In another message, Jaida told her neighbors that she noticed their dog was outside for over 10 hours a day, adding that he seemed to bark less when allowed off-leash in shaded areas.
John Creuzot, the Dallas County District Attorney, and Jessica Trevizo, the Chief of Community Prosecution & Animal Cruelty at the DA’s office, have been named in the petition.
