Channel Seven’s answer to Channel Nine’s The Block, My Reno Rules, starring Adrian Portelli, has officially kicked off, and it appears to have copped mixed reviews.

After a heated break-up with The Block — which saw Portelli describe the show as “completely out of touch and unrealistic” in an interview with news.com.au after its disastrous 2025 finale — My Reno Rules has finally debuted.
In this shebang, hosted by Portelli and Dr Chris Brown, two teams of two will be tasked with transforming two houses in a bid to please a judging panel consisting of design icon Neale Whitaker, founder and CEO of Australia’s largest buyer’s agency, Simon Cohen, and interior stylist Julia Green.

The team with the most points will win a HUGE cash prize, and with Portelli fronting the show, I could imagine it would be a massive amount.
“Expect the unexpected from Adrian, as he ensures motivation levels on the building site match his expectations, in a way that only he can. Suffice to say, lives will be transformed, futures secured, and teams left speechless,” a press release for the show reads.

In episode one, punters got to meet the teams, the houses and, of course, see the billionaire bidder back on their screens.
It was determined that fiery “Maltese Terriers” Emma and Michelle would be working on House One alongside Nathan and Julia, while House Two would be looked after by Franky and Isaac, and newlywed parents, Mitch and Shaz.
Although the episode was quite introductory (it was giving ice breaker week in uni), it still brought some drama with Emma and Michelle struggling with their assigned budget and the Melbourne weather wreaking havoc on both houses.
But ultimately, it appears that it’s copped a mixed reaction from viewers, with some admitting that they’re unsure if they’ll continue watching and others already claiming their favourite houses and teams.
Look, it’s still early days. So, we’ll definitely give the show a red-hot crack when more episodes drop. At least it’ll be a fun build-up for when Farmer Wants A Wife finally drops on Seven.
