American Airlines flights temporarily grounded after nationwide IT outage
All American Airlines flights were temporarily grounded Tuesday after a nationwide IT outage.
“A technology issue briefly impacted connectivity for some of our systems on Tuesday evening,” American Airlines wrote on X. “Systems are coming back online now and flights are departing again.”
The major US carrier said it had put a temporary ground stop on its planes “while our teams worked to resolve the issue.”
The Air Traffic Control System Command Center wrote in a message at around 6:30 p.m. ET Tuesday that an IT outage was affecting all airports.
“We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience,” American Airlines added in its statement.
