Annastacia Palaszczuk’s surgeon partner Reza Adib is accused of vile sex act – as disturbing new details of his rape charges emerge

Annastacia Palaszczuk’s prominent surgeon partner Reza Adib is accused of performing a vile sex act on his alleged rape victim, the Daily Mail can reveal.
It’s unclear what details the former Queensland Premier has been told of the charges facing her partner, but two days before his arrest, she told the Daily Mail she was ‘very blessed’ to have him in her life.
As well as two charges of rape of a woman in her 30s and two of unlawfully detaining and depriving of liberty, Adib, 65, is also accused of sexual assault contact of genitalia/anus with mouth.
The elite doctor is renowned for his weight-loss surgery clinic at a private Brisbane hospital, and has been Palaszczuk’s partner since they first met five years ago.
Police allege the specialist committed the offences against one woman at his luxury $7million Gold Coast waterfront apartment at Burleigh Heads on March 30.
Dr Adib was arrested on May 1 after he arrived at a police station on the Gold Coast to be interviewed following an earlier raid on his home.
Police took away bags of evidence, with Queensland police saying that ‘detectives executed a crime scene warrant at the property where several items were seized’.
The doctor was granted bail to appear at Southport Magistrates Court on Thursday, with his lawyers revealing his ‘shock’ at the allegations against him.

‘Like all persons accused of a crime, he is presumed to be innocent and intends to vigorously defend the charges,’ lawyer Dan Rogers said.
‘Dr Adib is shocked about the allegations made about him and is taking the matter very seriously.’
His arrest prompted Palaszczuk to cancel the book tour promoting her new memoir, The Politics of Being Me two days later, but has yet to comment publicly.
Well-placed sources have told Daily Mail that Palaszczuk is now ‘re-evaluating the relationship’, and is leaning on close family and friends for support.
The former top politician is not implicated or involved in the charges and there is no suggestion of any wrongdoing.
Adib – whose full name is Vahid Reza Adib – has been in a relationship with Ms Palaszczuk since 2021 when they met at the Stradbroke Handicap raceday at Eagle Farm Racecourse in Brisbane.
‘A man named Reza Adib came up and introduced himself,’ Palaszczuk wrote in her memoir, adding that they then met again, with mutual friends, a few weeks later.
‘[A friend] told me he’d known Reza for a long time, that he was a surgeon, a father of two and a very decent man,’ she wrote.
‘Reza and I had a lot in common, and we got along well right from the start.’

Adib specialises in weight-loss surgery, and is said to have performed more than 10,000 procedures since starting as a trainee in Brisbane in 1994.
He has a healthy real estate portfolio, with land records showing he or his companies acquired properties worth $42million in south-east Queensland, including a riverside home and beachside apartment, a roadside shopping strip that has medical tenants, and office space.
Following the charges, UnitingCare has confirmed that Adib is no longer an accredited surgeon at its Wesley Hospital in Brisbane.
