So, this was supposed to be one of the sweetest moments of the season. Ben and Em sharing their baby joy with the rest of The Block cast. Cue the awws, right?

Multiple insiders have told PEDESTRIAN.TV while the pregnancy news melted hearts on camera, things were a lot frostier once the cameras stopped rolling.
“There was definitely tension once word got around,” one production source claimed. “A few of the other contestants didn’t think a pregnant couple should have even been chosen for the show.”
Oof.
While viewers saw hugs and happy tears, off-camera, there were murmurs that Ben and Em might’ve had an unfair edge. Apparently, some teams worried that having a baby on the way would tug at buyers’ heartstrings and help their house fetch more at auction.
“It caused a real divide,” the insider continues. “Some thought it was a beautiful story, others grumbled that it could sway bidders emotionally. There were strong opinions on both sides.”
Producers were reportedly aware of the chatter but chose to downplay it, wanting to keep the focus on paint colours and power tools, not baby bumps.
“They didn’t want to make a big deal out of it,” one insider says. “The focus was meant to stay on the houses. Not the pregnancy.”
Still, the tension lingered. Behind the smiles, Ben and Em, who’ve been total rays of sunshine all season, started feeling the chill from a few of their cast-mates.
