A battle of international teammates?

It remains to be seen if both of Marcus Rashford and Trent Alexander-Arnold travel with England to the World Cup this summer, but the pair are long-time international teammates and their battle could be fun this evening. You’d think Rashford will fancy his chances of getting in the channel behind the Real Madrid right-back.

What happened earlier this season?

The reverse league fixture between these two was filled with drama: two red cards were shown after the 90-minute mark as Real Madrid emerged 2-1 winners.

Rashford to land first major honour?

On-loan winger Marcus Rashford might have won the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League title during his time at Manchester United, but the England international has a chance to win his first league title this season if he can help Barcelona win La Liga.

The 28-year-old has scored 13 goals and registered 14 assists during his time at the Camp Nou this term, though reports suggest Barcelona might not be able to afford to sign him permanently this summer.

Recent reports suggest the Blaugrana might try and negotiate another loan for Rashford next season, while others claim they simply want Man Utd to lower their asking price, which is thought to be around €30m.

Who will be the next Real Madrid manager?

It has been suggested that Jose Mourinho is the top target for Real Madrid, though the Benfica boss denied last night that he had been contacted about a second stint at the Bernabeu – yet…

“I haven’t had any contact with either the president or any of the key figures in the organisation,” Mourinho said. “I don’t speak to anyone, I haven’t had any contact with Real Madrid, and I won’t have any until the last league match against Estoril.”

Benfica are in a fascinating place, it should be said. They’ve not lost in the Primeira Liga this season but are battling for second spot, with 10 draws too many to keep pace with title-winners Porto. Braga on Monday will be a big test.
