Cardinals star Masyn Winn involved in terrifying car crash just hours after heroic performance in win over Mets

St. Louis Cardinals player Masyn Winn was involved in a car crash just hours after handing his team victory over the New York Mets on Wednesday night.
Winn was driving on Interstate 64, which runs alongside the team’s Busch Stadium in downtown St. Louis, when he was involved in a single-car crash.
According to a Cardinals statement, wet pavement was deemed to be the cause of the crash. Winn was alone in the car.
He was helped by local police officers, as well as members of the team’s security and medical staff. Winn was then transported to hospital and deemed to have no major injuries.
‘We are grateful that he is OK, and thank the first responders in our community who helped Masyn tonight,’ the Cardinals added.
The crash came just hours after Winn scored a walk-off single in the bottom of the 11th inning to ensure St. Louis claimed a 2-1 victory over the Mets.

Winn and the Cardinals are due to be back in action on Thursday against the Tigers in Detroit on Thursday but it remains to be seen whether he will be able to play.
Before the crash, Winn was enjoying a sensational night after his single to short right field, with two outs, in the 11th nudged the Cardinals to a 2-1 win over the Mets. They also won the series.
It was his first walk-off in his career after making his debut for the Cardinals in August 2023.
