Child dead and two others fighting for life after horror incident in Blue Mountains
A child has died and two others are in a serious condition after a stabbing inside a vehicle in the Blue Mountains.
Emergency crews were called to Waratah Road in the small town of Valley Heights in the Blue Mountains at about 12.45pm on Sunday.
It is understood officers found three children, believed to be aged between six months and four years old, along with a woman known to them at the scene.
The woman also suffered serious injuries that police believe may have been self-inflicted.
Police said first responders were called following reports a woman and three children had suffered stab wounds inside a vehicle.
Several members of the public reportedly rushed to help, providing first aid to the woman and children while Triple Zero was contacted.
One child was found dead inside the vehicle.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the two surviving children and the woman at the scene before taking them to Westmead Hospital and Westmead Children’s Hospital.

The children are believed to be under five years old, while the woman is believed to be in her 40s. Formal identification has yet to take place.
A crime scene has been established as detectives begin investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the stabbing at this stage.
The incident is the latest tragedy to rock New South Wales after police reported three deaths within 12 hours on Saturday.
