Olaplex is betting that science can be both serious and stylish.
The hair care brand on Tuesday announced the launch of No.3PLUS, an updated version of its bestselling No.3 Hair Perfector, alongside a new campaign titled “Science Never Looked So Good.” The campaign stars comedian and “Saturday Night Live cast member Chloe Fineman, who takes on the role of Olaplex’s fictional Chief Hair Officer.
No.3PLUS represents the next evolution of the treatment that helped establish OLAPLEX as a leader in the bond-building hair category. Designed as a three-minute, pre-shampoo treatment, No.3PLUS is clinically proven to reverse hair damage in one use, according to the brand. It works by repairing all three hair bonds from the inside out while strengthening strands, improving softness and helping prevent future breakage.
The formula combines Olaplex’s patented Bond Building Technology with a newly developed Damage Defense Cationic Complex, which specifically targets cuticle repair. Key ingredients include a natural humectant derived from L-glutamic acid to boost moisture and manageability, as well as crambe abyssinica seed oil, avocado oil and sunflower seed oil to reduce frizz and improve smoothness. The treatment is designed for all hair types and all forms of damage, from chemical processing to heat and environmental stress.
Clinically, the brand reports that hair is three times stronger after four uses, three times softer compared with bleached hair and shows a 75% increase in internal hair structure strength over time.
The campaign introduces Olaplex’s laboratory environment to consumers for the first time, with Fineman employing humor to explain the brand’s scientific process and product development.
