Coinciding with International Children’s Day, Al-Azhar organizes a cultural festival for creative and innovative children
Al-Azhar Al-Sharif organized today, Thursday, “Al-Azhar Cultural Festival for Creative and Innovative Children” At the Conference Center in Nasr City, coinciding with the celebration of International Children’s Day, in a special event in which children from Al-Azhar institutes from various governorates participated, with the aim of supporting their creative talents and developing their environmental and cultural awareness.
The festival witnessed a large exhibition of plastic arts and sustainable green art, which included more than 200 artworks created by children. The event also included a specialized awareness seminar on the importance of protecting the environment and the role of the child in confronting pollution, in addition to Arabic calligraphy workshops, artistic workshops for drawing and recycling consumables. Environmental, to express the protection of the Mediterranean Sea and the preservation of marine organisms and natural resources.
The festival aims to enhance the cultural and religious awareness of children regarding environmental issues, and to highlight the impact of environmental protection on human health and the local and international community, in fulfillment of Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the sustainable development goals, and based on Al-Azhar’s humanitarian mission and its role in serving society.
This event came as an activation of the presidential initiative “A New Beginning for Building Humanity” and the “Together” initiative. For the return of positive values, within the framework of the Egyptian state’s interest in reviving national and international events, providing a supportive climate for discovering young talents and directing their abilities to serve societal and environmental issues, and deepening the values of loyalty and belonging to the homeland.
The organization of this festival comes within the activities of the Environmental Sustainability Unit, which seeks to send a message from the children of Al-Azhar to the world on International Children’s Day, calling for the protection of the environment in support of Egypt’s preparations to host the twenty-fourth Conference of the Parties to the Convention for the Protection of the Mediterranean Environment from Pollution (Barcelona Convention). COP24, and to consolidate the values of environmental responsibility in the hearts of young people.
