Porn actress testified at Trump trial

On Tuesday, at the New York trial of Donald Trump, former porn actress Stormy Daniels testified as a prosecution witness and spoke in detail about her intimate encounter with Donald Trump in 2006.

Trump is accused of illegally paying Daniels $130,000 in 2016 for her silence about an episode ten years earlier. According to Daniels, she met Trump during a golf tournament at a resort in Lake Tahoe. She accepted his invitation to dinner, but it did not come to dinner. A long conversation in Trump’s room about the porn business, unions in the porn industry, the Trump family, his daughter and wife ended with sex. Daniels said Trump asked her to appear on his television show “The Apprentice.”

Daniels’ testimony was expected with great interest since Donald Trump’s attempt to buy Daniels’ silence shortly before the 2016 presidential election and using money from the election campaign fund for this became the reason for the opening of a criminal case by Manhattan prosecutors and the first criminal trial of Trump. Donald Trump himself states that he did not have an intimate relationship with Daniels.

Analysts say prosecutors’ decision to call Daniels as a witness could work against the prosecution because of doubts about her veracity, as she publicly stated in 2018 that she had nothing to do with Trump. Trump’s lawyers insist that Daniels’ claims about her intimate relationship with Trump are lies she used to try to make money.
