Egypt and Bulgaria sign a protocol to enhance cooperation between the two countries in 19 strategic sectors

Egypt and Bulgaria signed the “Joint Committee to Strengthen Areas of Cooperation between the Two Countries” protocol. In 19 strategic sectors that constitute the future of economic, trade and investment relations between the two countries.
This came at the conclusion of the Egyptian-Bulgarian Committee for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, its work in the New Capital, headed by Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation on the Egyptian side; And Peter Delov, Bulgarian Minister of Economy and Industry, on behalf of the Bulgarian side.
The two sides signed the committee’s protocol, including the agreement to strengthen areas of cooperation in 19 development areas that constitute a common interest for the two countries, to enhance the future of economic relations. And the comprehensive agreement between the European Union and Egypt.
Dr. Rania Al-Mashat confirmed that the convening of the Egyptian-Bulgarian committee coinciding with the approaching anniversary of the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, opens great horizons for joint cooperation, benefiting from the great potential that the two countries possess, explaining that the committee’s protocol includes many strategic sectors that achieve common interests, especially with regard to industry and investment, and strengthening partnership with the business community.
The committee’s protocol included strengthening trade and economic cooperation. Between Egypt and Bulgaria, after the volume of trade exchange reached about one billion dollars in 2024, the two countries agreed to develop and expand bilateral economic relations, and encourage the participation of the business community by organizing forums, exhibitions, and B2B meetings between government institutions and business organizations, activating and strengthening cooperation between ministries, chambers of commerce and industry, and other parties to facilitate trade, investment, and partnerships in the goods and services sectors.
The protocol also included inviting Bulgarian companies and the business community to explore investment opportunities available in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, which is a window for exports. And Bulgarian investments to the continent of Africa, as well as encouraging opportunities to implement joint projects and establish joint companies in renewable energy, engineering industries, electronics and chemical industries.
The committee’s protocol stipulated support for areas of cooperation in military production, joint investments as well as small and medium enterprises, and promotion of attracting investments in sectors with high added value such as technology, the automobile industry, electronics, medicine, and renewable energy.
The two sides emphasized strengthening the partnership in the fields of petroleum and mineral wealth, as well as electricity and energy. Renewable in light of the great potential that Egypt possesses, especially in terms of transitioning to a green economy, private sector participation, and expanding cooperation in the fields of agricultural research, genetic engineering, organic agriculture, livestock and fisheries.
In another context, the joint committee enhances cooperation between the two countries in the fields of transportation, communications, and information technology, as well as information security, environmental protection, climate action, and tourism.
