Egypt and the United Nations discuss supporting human development and enhancing health governance
Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, met with Dr. Abdullah Dardari, Director of the Regional Office for Arab States of the United Nations Development Programme, in the presence of Alessandro Fracasetti, Director of the United Nations Development Programme in Egypt, on the sidelines of the activities of the second edition of The World Conference on Population, Health and Human Development (PHDC24), held under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in the New Administrative Capital, under the slogan “Human Development: for a Sustainable Future.”
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, stated The meeting focused on discussing ways for the United Nations Development Program to support the human development file in Egypt, in addition to reviewing developments in joint cooperation between the program and the ministry, to enhance health sector governance within the framework of the “A New Beginning for Building the Egyptian Human” initiative.
Abdul Ghaffar explained: The two sides reviewed ways to support the efforts of the Egyptian Ministry of Health in providing medical services to Palestinians and Sudanese coming to Egypt in light of the current crises, stressing the Ministry’s role in providing the necessary health care for them.
Abdul Ghaffar added: The meeting touched on the need to focus on developing infrastructure in various sectors, especially the health sector, to confront the repercussions of poverty in coordination with the Ministerial Group for Human Development. The meeting also discussed the use of artificial intelligence techniques in twinning data and information related to human development indicators to achieve the best results in this field.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population indicated that Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar discussed opportunities to enhance cooperation with the United Nations Development Program in the field of training and human capacity building, in line with the population and human development policies implemented by Egypt. .
