Elland Road erupts for Will Ferrell’s unique t-shirt as Leeds investor is spotted in the crowd during dull 0-0 draw with Man United

Actor and part-owner of Leeds United Will Ferrell was spotted at their pre-season friendly against Manchester United on Saturday afternoon.

Ferrell, 58, was in the crowd at the Stockholm Arena in Sweden as the Red Devils got their pre-season preparations under way against the Whites.

However, during a drab first half in a match that ended up finishing 0-0, attention quickly turned to the Stepbrothers’ actor’s presence in the stands.

Upon realising this, he began buffing his chest out and pointing to his t-shirt, which had the words ‘I ❤️ Gnesta’ printed on it.

A round of cheers and applause then went up from other fans inside the arena once they caught a glimpse of the star.

Ferrell will be hoping Leeds can solidify a spot in the Premier League after winning the Championship title last season under former Norwich boss Daniel Farke.

Ferrell’s relationship with football goes far beyond his 2005 film Kicking & Screaming

The American purchased a minority stake in the club in after randomly ‘falling in love with the English game’ in May 2024.

Ferrell’s relationship with football goes far beyond his 2005 film Kicking & Screaming – as he has been seen regularly attending matches and has posed for pictures with the likes of Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Two years after its founding in 2014, Ferrell became a co-owner of Los Angeles FC in the MLS.

He followed in the footsteps of fellow Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who have enjoyed a sustained period of success since taking over at Wrexham in 2020.

The Red Dragons will make a return to the Championship in 2025-26 after three promotions on the bounce.

Former NFL star Tom Brady has also seen Birmingham City promoted to the second tier after buying a minority stake in the Blues in August 2023.

Leeds will be hoping to get their 2025-26 season off to a winning start when they face Everton in their first Premier League fixture.

Prior to that, they have two more pre-seasons friendlies to come, against Villarreal and AC Milan.
