Ethan Slater & Lilly Jay Romantic Reconciliation Claims Shut Down
Rumours speculating on a possible romantic rekindling between Dr Lilly Jay and Ethan Slater have been busted, with insiders staunchly claiming there are no plans of a romantic reunion between the pair.
On the heels of Slater’s breakup with Wicked co-star Ariana Grande, the rumour mill went into overdrive about a possible romantic reconnection between the ex-high school sweethearts.
However, according to TMZ, sources close to the pair have pushed back on these claims, telling the publication that it’s “absolutely not” happening.
Another source also told the publication that hte Spongebob Squarepants star is also not pursuing a relationship with his ex-wife, despite internet rumours.
What happened between Dr. Lilly Jay and Ethan Slater?
In late 2023, Ethan was embroiled in controversy due to his relationship with Ariana, whom he met on the Wicked set.
The controversial relationship stems on speculation surrounding the timeline of their relationship, and whether or not there was any crossover between their blossoming romance and his marriage/divorce with Lily, who recently gave birth to their child Ezra.
Speculation surrounding the timeline of their relationship got spicier when Lilly told Page Six that Ariana was “not a girl’s girl” and claimed that her family was “collateral damage”.
Almost a year later, Ariana opened up about the online wildfire caused by her controversial relationship with the star in an interview with Vanity Fair.
While she didn’t get in to the specifics of their relationship, she did slam the “disputed specific allegations” surounding the timeline of their romance.
“There couldn’t be a less accurate depiction of a human being than the one that the tabloids spread about [Slater],” she said.
“The most disappointing part was to see so many people believe the worst version of it… that was definitely a tough ride.”
In December 2024, Lilly shared a personal essay about her public divorce from Ethan, and how it impacted her professional life as a clinical psychologist.
“No one gets married thinking they’ll get divorced, in the same way we don’t board a plane expecting to crash,” she said in her essay, shared via The Cut.
“But I really never thought I would get divorced. Especially not just after giving birth to my first child and especially not in the shadow of my husband’s new relationship with a celebrity.”
After almost three years of dating, Ariana and Ethan called it off in June 2026 with insiders claiming their split was “amicable”.
Ariana has sinced been linked to former flame and back up dancer, Ricky Alvarez, who was famously name dropped on “Thank U, Next”.
