Farmer Wants A Wife’s Miranda Has Reacted To Her ‘Villain Edit’

While it was once known as Australia’s most wholesome reality show, recent seasons of Farmer Wants A Wife have amped up the drama by giving at least one contestant each year the so-called “villain edit”. Outspoken 2024 star Daisy Lamb passed the baton to Clarette Goodhead last season, and now it’s clear that Miranda Chopping has been handed the title this year following her controversial behaviour in the first few episodes.

Not only has she declared that she’s not on the show to make friends, but she’s also been called out on social media for bluntly criticising her co-stars, labelling them as “jealous” and saying they’re “serving desperate”. Ouch.

The 21-year-old real estate professional has since poked fun at her on-screen portrayal, taking part in a video for Channel 7’s social media accounts about being “the drama” this season, and she told PEDESTRIAN.TV that she’s genuinely enjoying watching everything unfold on TV.

“I mean, I know everything that I said, so I was kind of expecting to see all of this. So honestly, I can’t really complain. I’m loving it,” she said.

Miranda reacts to her ‘villain edit’ on Farmer Wants A Wife

While reality TV has been on screens in Australia for more than three decades, Miranda’s arrival in the genre introduces a whole new kind of “villain” to audiences.

Yes, she has acknowledged there’s important context to her comments that viewers aren’t seeing — including prompts from producers and details about her own experiences being bullied — but she’s also owning up to everything she said instead of “blaming the edit”.

“If people are gonna villainise me for saying it how it is, then that’s how it is. Can’t do anything about it, and I still do stand by all of that,” she remarked.

Most importantly, she’s also completely avoiding the comments on social media and is only acutely aware of how the public has perceived her confidence as arrogance — an approach that no doubt limits any introspection and character growth, but protects her mental health.

“I haven’t opened a single comment section. That’s why I’m doing okay. I do not read the comments, I don’t want to read into negativity,” she revealed.

“I’m confident in the person I am, and I agree with everything I said. So I think as long as I stand by that and I’m not reading into the negativity, there’s nothing wrong with it.”

Farmer Wants A Wife enters its MAFS era

Miranda’s stint on Farmer Wants A Wife has brought the reality show one step closer to Married At First Sight, with the most recent episode feeling very reminiscent of a MAFS Dinner Party or even a Real Housewives confrontation.

You see, Miranda was furious when she found out fellow contestant Maya had told Farmer Zac’s twin sister that she had called her “desperate”, and she ended up bringing her co-star to tears during their clash.

“I have no sympathy,” Miranda said, rolling her eyes as Maya began sobbing in front of her.

It’s the type of conflict that was unimaginable in the early days of FWAW when the women would only argue over who got to milk the cows first, but Miranda stands ten toes down that she was in the right.

“I stand by everything I said on the show,” she told P.TV. “I think everyone’s way too sensitive these days, to be honest. Like, at the end of the day, I didn’t say anything completely nasty to someone’s character. I stood up for myself, and that was the kind of situation I was put in, and I just kind of said what I thought — and to be honest, I think I said what everyone else was thinking as well.”

Upcoming previews suggest that her time on the farm might be at risk, but if it were up to me, I’d keep Miranda until the end of the season for the drama alone.
