Female Ryder Cup comedian reveals she received death threats and vile abuse over Rory McIlroy chant

The female comedian who resigned from her gig as the emcee at the first tee of the Ryder Cup after leading an expletive-laded chant toward Rory McIlroy is revealing the abuse she received after her stunt.
Heather McMahan was hired to rile up the crowd on the first tee at Bethpage Black, but caught criticism after she joined in for a chant of ‘F*** you Rory’.
After the media firestorm due to her behavior, McMahan resigned and left the course to return home.
On the latest episode of her podcast ‘Absolutely Not with Heather McMahan’, the Atlanta comedian apologized for her actions.
She also revealed the extent of the abuse that she received from Team Europe fans for her behavior.
‘To the wonderful people in the audience who I had a blast with, thank you guys,’ she said on the show. ‘Thank you for being there bright and early and participating and cheering back and having a great time in a great way.’
‘I’ve learned a lesson in media, I’ve learned a lesson in communications… Moving forward [with] jobs, just being like “I need specific parameters, I need to know exactly what is asked of me.”

Comedian Heather McMahan also revealed she received hate mail and death threats
‘The problem is sometimes you into jobs and you’re like, “Hey I’m really go-with-the-flow”. I’m happy to be here, I was so amped. the Ryder Cup’s my thing, golf is my sport, I was so pumped to be there. I just think it was a real – in real time – life lesson learning moment.’
McMahan then revealed that she received multiple death threats via direct messages and e-mails.
She also recalled – and even read out – hate messages she received and continues to receive for her words.
‘The amount of hate that I have gotten online in the last 48 hours has been, one might say debilitating, but not. I’ve never been called a “big fat wh**e c**t” by more Irish men ever, so Rory, I just want you to know I am so sorry that anybody said something to you, I am so sorry in my participation in the morning, but I have also been getting it,’ she said.
‘It’s been pretty hot, a lot of hot heat over here on the interwebs. So I too am getting called a lot of things, and it’s fine. It is what it is.’
Among the abuse she received included the following: ‘Do you stop at the KFC on the way to the Ryder Cup and on the way home?’; ‘You’re a disgrace, you’ve had a pivotal role in the best golf tournament in the world. You behave like a spoilt little girl.’; ‘One guy called me a “redneck ‘murican”, that was fun.’

McIlroy and his wife, Erica Stoll, were hampered with abuse from the fans at Bethpage Black
She continued: ‘This one really hit home: “F*** you, you’re a poor representation of the American people. Shame on you, you’re the epitome of such rude behavior. You’re disgusting. You were probably a Nazi in your previous life. Eat s*** and die soon, c**t.” Love that at the end… Thank you so much for that, I will print that out for sure.’
Another email read, ‘You should be ashamed of your actions, you’re not funny, definitely low-class, you’re just a dumb b***h.’
McMahan concluded: ‘Here’s the other thing, if you still wanna keep the comments online rolling in, there is nothing that you can say to me or write to me that I a) haven’t already heard, b) haven’t said to myself, or c) probably agreed with you on.’
McIlroy was subject to plenty of abuse from the Long Island fans, with the Irish Olympian kicking out many of the worst offenders.
That included a man who recorded himself calling McIlroy a homophobic slur to his face.
Fans didn’t just hurl abuse at McIlroy, but also at his wife Erica Stoll. When walking to the first tee on Saturday, a fan hurled a drink at the former PGA of America employee and which her on the hat she was wearing.

Footage emerged of Erica Stoll being hit with a drink during a tumultuous Saturday in New York

In the video, Rory McIlroy’s wife looked around shocked to see where the drink had come from after it struck her hat
In a video which circulated on Saturday, McIlroy can be seen wiping something from her hat and asking her if she is okay while they moved away from the stand of rowdy fans, surrounded by security for the European team.
But another angle showed a rightfully enraged McIlroy attempting to get into the crowd and find the perpetrator – only to be held back.
In the ensuing melee, Stoll looked around shocked, as if to see where the projectile had come from.
Daily Mail Sport reported on Saturday evening that Stoll was alleged to have been left in tears by various incidents over the course of the day, including chants directed at her.
