Football fans go wild for ‘best national anthem ever’ as husband and wife duo perform at Fiesta Bowl

College football fans have labelled the national anthem rendition prior to the Fiesta Bowl as the ‘best ever’ after a stunning performance from The War and Treaty.

The husband and wife duo, Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Trotter, took to the field on Thursday night just moments before No. 10 Miami and No. 6 Ole Miss faced off.

With a spot in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game on the line, nerves inside the State Farm Stadium were reaching an all-time high.

However, all of that was briefly forgotten as The War and Treaty took to the stage and blew the house down with their rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner.

The singer-songwriter duo sang in unison as they performed the national anthem, while fireworks and pyrotechnics were set off in the background.

It didn’t take long for fans to heap praise on the performance on social media.

Taking to X, one fan wrote: ‘I’d like to start a petition that allows The War and Treaty to do every single national anthem for every single big game’.

‘The War and Treaty just sang the best national anthem rendition I’ve heard in a long time,’ another wrote on the social media platform.

One said: ‘Can’t say I’m overly familiar with who War and Treaty is but that was one of the best National Anthem renditions I’ve heard. Fantastic way to kick off what should be an instant classic in the Fiesta Bowl’.

Another chimed in: ‘I’d totally be fine with the War and Treaty singing the national anthem at every big game’.

Miami and Ole Miss face off in the Fiesta Bowl tonight with a spot in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game on the line.

The winner of Thursday night’s clash will take on either Indiana or Oregon in the showpiece event set for January 19 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.

The praise for The War and Treaty’s national anthem performance marks a stark contrast to the internet’s reaction to another Star-Spangled Banner display this week.

NFL fans were left angry after discovering the singer of the national anthem at Saturday’s game between the 49ers and Seahawks was Canadian.

Country music singer and Army Reserve member Craig Morgan first performed God Bless America before Cassandra DiFruscio took center stage at Levi’s Stadium to sing The Star-Spangled Banner in the minutes before kickoff.

DiFruscio, who currently lives in Nashville, originally hails from Niagara-on-the-Lake in Ontario, Canada.

And while her performance received mixed reviews on social media, fans watching on at home were surprised she got the role given she’s not American.
