Grim discovery as a body is found in bushland on the southern outskirts of Sydney ‘covered in blood’

Police are investigating after finding a body covered in blood near a popular waterhole in Sydney’s south-west.

Emergency services were called to Greengate Reserve on Woolwash Road in Airds shortly after 5pm on Tuesday following reports a body had been found.

On arrival, officers attached to Campbelltown City Police Area Command located the body of a man believed to be aged in his 20s.

A spokesperson for NSW Police told Daily Mail Australia the circumstances surrounding his death are not yet known.

‘Police established a crime scene and investigations commenced into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death, which remains unclear,’ they said.

Vision from the scene depicted multiple police and ambulance driving in and out of the bushland beyond the quiet suburban street.

Officers and paramedics had to use four-wheel-drive vehicles to access the remote location.

The site borders the Woolwash – a secluded stretch of bush along the Georges River known for its rugged trails, steep gorge and hiking trails.
