Health: 7.4 million primary students were examined with an initiative to detect “anaemia, obesity and dwarfism”

The Ministry of Health and Population announced that medical teams examined 7 million and 453 thousand and 886 primary school students in all governorates, as part of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s initiative for early detection of anemia, obesity and dwarfism, since its launch at the beginning of the school year on October 5, 2025 until now.

 

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesman for the ministry, confirmed that the initiative targets all For Egyptian and non-Egyptian students in public and private schools, it is being implemented throughout the academic year in more than 29,000 schools, in full coordination with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education.

 

The services include measuring weight and height and examining the level of hemoglobin in the blood to detect malnutrition, along with developing an immediate treatment plan for the cases discovered.

 

For his part, Dr. Ahmed Mostafa, Chairman of the General Insurance Authority, explained Health insurance, that every student suspected of being infected with any of the three diseases is immediately referred to health insurance clinics to complete examinations and receive treatment for free, and is given a “follow-up card.” Personal care guarantees the continuity of regular care in all governorates.

 

Dr. Tamer Samir, coordinator of the presidential initiative, indicated that 2,000 trained medical teams are working according to the latest examination protocols and infection control standards, with full commitment to precautionary measures and avoiding crowding. Health education teams also educate students daily about prevention methods.
