Health reveals efforts to empower women healthily and economically

The Ministry of Health and Population announced qualitative achievements in implementing the third recommendation “Empowering Women” Among the recommendations of the second edition of the World Conference on Population, Health and Human Development (2024), prior to the launch of the third edition “PHDC”25”.

The Ministry continues to publish reports on the implementation of the 11 recommendations in succession, which were prepared by the Supreme Follow-up Committee, formed by Resolution No. The recommendation focused on investing in women’s health through comprehensive periodic examinations, especially early detection of cancer, raising awareness of their rights and activating laws to confront harmful practices, such as genital mutilation (circumcision).

He added that the achievements of economic empowerment include the implementation of a smart electronic map that documents empowerment projects over a period of 10 years, with a total of 1,418,360 beneficiaries, an integrated electronic application that allows recording data of projects and beneficiaries, with immediate updating from each party, and a specialized website that promotes empowerment. Economic, with linking to an interactive data panel, and smart targeting, which focuses on women most in need, especially those who support children in the “Golden Thousand Days”.

He added that there is a unified program for empowerment, and its axes include (an accurate geographic survey with the participation of female health pioneers and activists of population committees, and the diversity of projects according to family and environmental conditions, integration and networking of small projects to create larger entities, and training and entrepreneurship with comprehensive Financial, governance and evaluation with clear indicators of success, participation of civil society and comprehensive media for promotion, analytical studies and development ideas, and preparing a study to analyze the situation and empowerment gaps in each governorate.

And “Abdul Ghaffar” mentioned: There are innovative solutions related to empowerment, which are (breaking out of stereotypes through “Decent Life” villages, the initiative to develop childcare and rehabilitation of women, linking university research with development projects, promoting organic agriculture and rooftop farming, amending obstructive laws, documenting successful experiences, 100% home visits to filaria patients in 5 governorates, and public-private partnerships).

He explained that some of the recommendations for economically empowering women include the file. Agriculture, as it has a major role in improving public health and the well-being of the population, as it contributes to promoting sustainable agriculture, food security, awareness of medicinal plants, and training in urban and home agriculture.

These achievements include the launch of effective presidential initiatives, including the initiative to support women’s health to fight uterine cancer, where counselors are trained to protect women from violence, and activating intensive campaigns against circumcision, which resulted in a decrease in the rate to 12% among girls under 29. General.
