Helena Bonham Carter Might Be Packing Her Bags For A Starring Role In The White Lotus
We’re off to France for the next season of rich white folks behaving badly (AKA The White Lotus), and if recent reports are to be believed, Helena Bonham Carter might just be packing her bags.

That’s according to Deadline, which claimed in a new report that the Oscar-nominated actress — known for the Harry Potter franchise and Fight Club — is in “early talks” with casting producers for a starring role in The White Lotus’ fourth season.
But before you start theorising about which shade of awful Carter’s character will be (narcissistic expat? Bored rich housewife? pill-popping mother?), we don’t yet know any other details about Carter’s role — or indeed if the whispers are even true.
It’s unclear where exactly Carter is at in terms of negotiations, but Deadline heard from well-placed sources that she is in the midst of “exclusive conversations” with HBO about securing a room at the world’s most murderous hotel chain.
If she does end up booking a ticket to France, it would make Carter the first star to be attached to the upcoming instalment of The White Lotus, with no other casting announcements made in the time since HBO greenlit season four back in January.
Like a hotel guest who may or may not have killed someone, the deets are being kept hush-hush. As it stands, we know for sure that creator Mike White is back at the helm of season four, with production potentially starting in March of next year.
We also know that the fourth instalment will be set in France (bonjour!), but the exact hotel where it’ll be filmed has not been revealed. All previous seasons were filmed at Four Seasons hotels in Hawaii, Italy and Thailand, but HBO’s lapsed marketing deal with the luxury chain has made the next filming location anyone’s guess.
But rest assured a group of truly abhorrent holidayers will no doubt be staying somewhere, because a season of The White Lotus without the namesake fictional hotel is like Parker Posey without a dose of Lorazepam. Nuts!
Speaking of Posey, Mike White has a knack for casting stars who’ve been around forever but haven’t quite gotten their own breakout moment (Murray Bartlett, Leslie Bibb, Jennifer Coolidge), so Carter’s rumoured casting certainly fits that bill.
Whether or not she’ll trade Harry Potter wands for exceedingly deep pockets remains to be seen, but I for one have already booked my first-class flights for season four. Au revoir!
