How re-wearing decades-old dresses has become the ultimate humble brag for stars to say: ‘Look, I’ve barely aged a day’ – as Liz Hurley slips into gown she first wore 27 years ago

Few wardrobe moments feel quite as triumphant as slipping back into a decades-old dress and realising it still fits.
That’s exactly what Liz Hurley proved when she dusted off a vintage Versace design during a recent visit to Delhi – a look she debuted in 1999.
But Ms Hurley isn’t the only famous face revisiting fashion from the archives.
In recent years, a growing number of stars have proudly reworn decades-old garments – turning the act into something of the ultimate humble brag: proof, perhaps, that they’ve barely aged a day.
Below, we take a look at the celebrities who have stepped back into their most iconic looks years later.
Liz Hurley
While visiting Delhi, India, Liz Hurley slipped into a plunging Versace gown first worn in 1999.
She later shared two images side by side on Instagram, comparing her recent look with the first time she wore the dress 27 years ago.
She captioned the picture: ‘Viva Versace! For this weekend’s adventure in India, I dug into my archives and unearthed one of my favourite pieces, which I last wore to the Met Gala in 1999. 27 years may have passed, but some loves never fade.’
The black satin gown featured a plunging neckline, thigh-high split and floral embellishment at the waist.

It seems Ms Hurley has a particular penchant for the designs of Versace, having previously recycled a glamorous metallic gown that perfectly showcases her enduring style.
She first wore the striking dress at a 2011 charity event held at The Hurlingham Club in London, and brought it out again for the New York premiere of Strictly Confidential in 2024.

Halle Berry
In 2024, Halle Berry made a surprise cameo on the catwalk during Elie Saab’s The 1001 Season show in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, celebrating the designer’s 45-year career.
Berry recycled her iconic Elie Saab gown from the 2002 Oscars, when she became the first black woman to win Best Actress for her role in Monster’s Ball.
The daring design featured a mesh bodice with floral embroidery and a draped silk-taffeta skirt.
Remarkably, she revived the look in 2024 with zero alterations.

The actress wore a sequinned Armani Privé gown, incorporating repurposed lace on the neckline from a dress she had previously worn to the 2014 Golden Globe Awards and the 2018 Cannes Film Festival.
The reimagined gown looked quite different from the original, thanks to its figure-hugging silhouette and all-over sequin embellishment.

She later brought the same outfit back out for Sean Penn’s Haiti benefit in 2014, reinforcing her reputation for recycling red carpet looks.
The classic A-line LBD looked just as timeless the second time around, styled with coordinating accessories.
