Influencer’s daughter, three, suffers horror injuries after being mauled by family dog: ‘It happened so fast’

Influencer Rachel Gibbs has revealed the extent of her three-year-old daughter’s injuries after she was mauled by a dog.
The content creator, based in Austin, Texas, took to Instagram to tell her followers about the horror encounter that occurred on July 25, describing it as ‘the worst and scariest day of her life.’
‘My mom and I were standing in the kitchen, and my daughter walked past the dog and she just attacked. Full on mauling,’ she wrote.
‘I can’t imagine how scary that was for my baby girl.’
Explaining further to camera, Gibbs said: ‘My three-year-old was attacked by a dog in her face and she has well over 150 stitches.’
Gibbs, who said it was her parents’ dog that was involved, said the injury ran from the top of the tot’s eye, back through her hairline and across towards the back of her head.
‘I was right there, my mom was right there, she was being supervised. It just happened like that,’ she added, with a click of her fingers.
Gibbs, who herself suffered a bite to the leg during the attack, continued: ‘It can happen so fast.’

The youngster was immediately rushed to hospital where she was treated by a facial reconstructive surgeon before eventually being allowed to go home.
‘She’s okay, her eye is completely swollen shut today. I am a little worried about my behavior around dogs now and how I am going to handle myself,’ Gibbs candidly shared.
The mom, who has two German Shepherd mixes herself, said she is now ‘anxious’ about her own dogs given their size.
‘I guess if you just have any good words or tips, advice, whatever. I don’t need anything about the dog. I don’t need anything about my parents,’ she shared.
‘The priority is my daughter and her recovery.
‘She is going to have her own little Harry Potter scar, which is perfect cause her name is Hazel Paige, and she was named after Harry Potter.’
In a separate video, the content creator, who has 500,000 followers across her TikTok and Instagram platforms, gave a further update.
She shared: ‘We’re very lucky that she didn’t have any of her optical nerves or glands or anything hit.
She said: ‘She’s very lucky. The only thing that is going to be, you know, a lasting remnant of this is the scar and the trauma’

In America, there are approximately 4.7 million dog bites reported every year with more than half of the victims being children, according to the Humane Society.
The CDC reported dog attacks typically occur in a familiar place, during everyday activities with many people in the area.
It is estimated that 77 percent of the offending dogs belong to the family or friend of the victim.
