J.K. Rowling has clapped back at Emma Watson, after the Harry Potter actress mentioned her years-long rift with the author during a podcast appearance earlier this week.

ICYMI, Watson lifted the lid on her current perspective on the Harry Potter author while chatting with podcaster Jay Shetty on Thursday.
Among other comments, Watson said she “treasure[s]” her memories with Rowling but still holds space to not “necessarily share the same opinion” with her, in reference to the author’s controversial views on transgender people.
Rowling has now responded in the form of a parody video shared by comedian IntelLady, who spoofed Watson’s podcast interview in a viral clip.
“I’m here for ALL the spoofs,” Rowling wrote when resharing the skit on X.
IntelLady exaggerates Watson’s comments in the clip, impersonating the actress while saying she “stand[s] shoulder to shoulder with those who wish harm on [Rowling]”.
Rowling co-signing the clip might point to lingering tensions between herself and Watson, who portrayed Hermione Granger in all the Harry Potter films.
Their rift kicked into high gear in 2020, when Watson and her co-star Daniel Radcliffe publicly sided with the trans community after Rowling shared a widely-panned essay which many deemed transphobic.

The feud was revived last year, when Rowling said she would never “forgive” Watson for “cheer[ing] on the transitioning of minors”.
Watson then reflected on this tumultuous history during her interview with Shetty, saying she has conflicted feelings about Rowling.
“I really don’t believe that by having had that experience, and holding the love and support and views that I have, means that I can’t and don’t treasure Jo and the person that I had personal experiences with,” Watson said.
“It’s my deepest wish that I hope people who don’t agree with my opinion will love me and I hope I can keep loving people who I don’t necessarily share the same opinion with,” she added.
The actress also said she’s “always” open to reconnecting with Rowling, but since she shared a post mocking Watson’s comments, it doesn’t look like that reconciliation is coming anytime soon.
