Guys, wake up! We just got another update from the Coldplay kiss cam debacle, courtesy of Kristen Cabot’s resignation from Astronomer after being caught embracing its CEO earlier this month.
Cabot, who served as the Chief People Officer of the New York-based tech company, is said to have officially left her role in the wake of the cheating scandal, which saw her wrapped in the embrace of CEO Andy Byron during the band’s recent concert in Massachusetts.
“I can confirm that Kristin Cabot is no longer with Astronomer, she has resigned,” a spokesperson confirmed to Page Six on Thursday.
It comes days after Astronomer revealed on its LinkedIn that it had launched an investigation into the matter, saying at the time that both Cabot and Byron had been placed on temporary leave.
Then, a spokesperson announced Byron’s official resignation from the company as it searches for a new CEO.
“Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted,” the tech company wrote last week, revealing that Chief Product Officer, Pete DeJoy, will serve as the interim CEO in the meantime.
We don’t yet know what Cabot’s movements are post-resignation (I imagine there’s a magazine cover in her future), but it nonetheless marks the end of her stint as Astronomer’s CPO after serving in that role since November 2024.
As a recap, the whole fiasco kicked off last week, when Coldplay frontman Chris Martin threw the kiss cam to the pair as they embraced (and promptly un-embraced) during the band’s show in Gillette Stadium, Foxborough.
“Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy,” Martin said, with the days afterwards proving it was unfortunately the former.
In the fallout, Byron’s wife, Megan — with whom he shares two children — dropped the surname from her Facebook page and deactivated her account altogether, as a new fan-recorded angle of the moment showed Martin appearing to regret his decision to project the pair on the big screen.
Elsewhere, we learned that the third person captured painfully grinning on the screen was not the woman internet sleuths had identified, while DeJoy issued a statement describing the mess as “unusual and surreal for our team”.
In a few years time, the word ‘Astronomer’ will be written on whiteboards in modern history classes and Sarah Paulson will have won an Emmy for her portrayal of Cabot in the inevitable Ryan Murphy adaptation.
But in the meantime, I’ll settle for the debacle having its own Wikipedia page, or for an Urban Dictionary update where Astronomer is shorthand for ‘not keeping your affair behind closed doors’.
