Lily Collins Nabs Coveted Role Of Audrey Hepburn In Breakfast At Tiffany’s-Inspired Movie

Lily Collins has nabbed the coveted role of Audrey Hepburn in an upcoming Breakfast At Tiffany’s-inspired film, and somewhere out there Ariana Grande is crying in whistle tone.
Lily’s casting is one of the few details we’ve gotten about the already-buzzy movie. In a bit of IP-ception, the film is based on the Sam Wasson book Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and the Dawn of the Modern Woman, which chronicles the making of the 1961 movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
For those keeping track, the Breakfast at Tiffany’s movie was itself based on the 1958 Truman Capote novella of the same name — so we’re dealing with a lot of books into movies into books into another movie here.
What is the Audrey Hepburn movie be about?
If it’s faithful to its source material (Emerald Fennell, are you listening?), the upcoming movie will cover all the juicy BTS drama that plagued the making of Breakfast at Tiffany’s from pre-production right through to its premiere.
That includes Truman, forefather of celebrity feuds, and his attempts to cast Marilyn Monroe instead of Hepburn in the star-making role of Holly Golightly, as well as reports that a movie extra was almost electrocuted while filming Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ opening scene.

Truman is expected to be a character in this new film, as well as the OG movie’s costume supervisor Edith Head and director Blake Edwards.
Actors for those roles have not yet been announced, but Truman has been portrayed in the past by the likes of Tom Hollander and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Beyond all that, we also know that the Lily adaptation will be penned by Alena Smith, who also wrote the TV series Dickinson, with a director for the movie not yet revealed.
Lily took to Instagram to celebrate the news, sharing an image of Audrey on set of the OG movie and saying her own casting came with “a lifetime of adoration for Audrey”.
“It’s with almost 10 years of development and a lifetime of admiration and adoration for Audrey that I’m finally able to share this,” the Emily In Paris star — who does look eerily similar to Audrey — wrote on Instagram.
“Honoured and ecstatic don’t begin to express how I feel…”

Lily’s casting comes after months of speculation that Ariana would take on the lead role, thanks to a bunch of press tour looks in which she appeared to be channelling Audrey’s iconic style.
The singer even addressed the speculation in an interview with Access Hollywood last year. “Oh my goodness, why is everyone asking me this? You’re insane,” Ariana quipped.
We don’t know the release date for the movie, but we’ll be sure to update you when any new detail drops. In the meantime, I’m gonna make pancakes, because I just wrote the breakfast seven times.
